SuperLega, on Sunday afternoon the return leg begins in Siena

The return round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23 kicks off this weekend. Itas Trentino will be a protagonist in the first match against Emma Villas Aubay Siena on Sunday, December 18th. The kickoff is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. at PalaEstra. Live broadcast on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Filed with Thursday night's match the international appointments of the month of December (Club World Championship and Champions League), the yellow-blue team can go back to focusing on the Italian championship and the Coppa Italia, competitions that in this final part of 2022 will reserve only particularly delicate games (three). The first is the away-game to Tuscany, which opens the return round of the regular season journey.
"We want to be protagonists of a return round, greater than the first round, both in terms of points and in terms of position in the standings, and to do so we need to start as early as in Siena on this path by moving our first steps well” explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti introducing the match - ”We will face a very motivated team, which needs points to win safety and has recently changed technical guide; the success they obtained last Sunday in their home game against Monza must therefore warn us. It will be a more difficult engagement than the current standings might say, but we have shown during the week that we have recovered our mental and physical strength well after the recent tour de force in Brazil."
Trentino Volley will reach Siena as early as early evening today, after holding their lunchtime eve training session at the BLM Group Arena with thirteen members of the roster. Only Cavuto worked separately, continuing the differentiated physical recovery program after his abdominal injury.
The match with Siena will correspond to the 965th official game in the history of the Trener Street’s Club, the 22nd of the season, and will see the yellow-blue club go in search of its 321st away win, the 394th in the regular season.
THE OPPONENTS The new race of Emma Villas Aubay has started off on the right foot. After the defeat in Padua during the direct match for salvation played last December 8th, the Tuscan club in fact decided to relieve coach Paolo Montagnani, promoting his assistant Omar Pelillo to lead the team, and the impact of the new coach was immediately effective, as Siena last Sunday scored a very heavy 3-1 home victory over Monza that revived its ranking quotations. Now, however, the white-black club is  facing a particularly challenging week, in which in quick succession they will face Trento in front of their own public and then Civitanova (Wednesday, for the rematch of the eighth round) and Perugia both away matches. The new coach in his first match changed everything, lining up Pereyra as opposite in place of Pinali (one of the three former Trentino Volley players, the others are Mazzone and Van Garderen) and trusting Raffaelli as wing and Biglino in the middle of the net. The cornerstones of the Sienese lineup are then captain Petric (20 points in the match against the Brianzoli), libero Bonami and Argentine setter Finoli. Despite boasting only six points and two wins, Siena has often demonstrated its fighting spirit during the SuperLega first leg, winning at least one set in seven of its 10 matches so far. The only 0-3 losses were those with Milan, Piacenza and Padua.
BACKGROUND There are just three games on record between the two clubs related to the matches that had characterized the 2018/19 season (the first in SuperLega for the Tuscans players) and that of the first round. The tally is completely in favor of Trentino Volley, which won 3-0 on October 14th, 2018 in Trento, 3-1 on December 26th of the same year in Tuscany (the only previous match at PalaEstra) and again 3-1 the match of the first leg of the current regular season, played on October 2nd at the BLM Group Arena (sets of 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-17 and Laurenzano as MVP).
THE REFEREES  The match will be managed by Vincenzo Carcione (from Rome, in Serie A since 2014) and Mauro Goitre (from Turin, in the top category since 2008 and international one since 2016), in their fifth and seventh SuperLega matches of the season, respectively. The last previous match with Trentino Volley for Goitre dates back to the October 20th, home game lost in the tie break to Civitanova, while for Carcione it’s his first match ever with the yellow-blue team.
