SuperLega, on Sunday afternoon in Apulia the advance of the 18th round

The eighteenth round of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23, the seventh of the second round, will be played this weekend. Itas Trentino will be the protagonist of the match on the early afternoon of Sunday, 5thFebruary, visiting Gioiella Prisma Taranto; at PalaMazzola kick-off scheduled for 3.30 pm. Live broadcast on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The yellow-blue team opens the month of February with the longest away game of its regular season, the third-to-last of the regular season before those in Milan (February 19th) and Padua (March 5th).
"In this final phase of the championship, the ranking ambitions of those aiming for the Play Off Scudetto are mixed with those
in search of salvation, and the common denominator is therefore great balance," explained coach Angelo Lorenzetti presenting the appointment "Sunday's match in Taranto holds many pitfalls, because we will be playing on a difficult, hot field and against a team that needs to get points; the same as we do to stay on top and continue on our path of growth. The team has worked well during the week and is ready to play a match in which we will need technique, tactics, but above all the right mentality".
The team will reach Taranto in the early evening today, after having carried out the eve's training at the BLM Group Arena in the late morning and the subsequent transfer by plane with thirteen members of the squad on board. In fact, the middle-blocker Srecko Lisinac will remain in Trento, who will skip the appointment to continue doing differentiated work in view of the next important appointments in February. The match against Cisterna will correspond to the 974th official match in the history of Trentino Volley, the thirty-first of the season (balance: 21 victories, 9 defeats), and will see the yellow-blue team go in search of the 398th victory in the regular season, possibly the thirteenth in Puglia in twenty-three matches played in this region.
THE OPPONENTS Gioiella Prisma Taranto awaits Itas Trentino at the PalaMazzola and it is determined to gain some “salvation points”. The latest victories in Siena, in fact, completely reopened the relegation conflict, making the Apulian team reach the last position in the rankings (to be shared right with the Tuscan team) with 14 points. All of this happened even though Taranto often gained some points in the last matches: in the previous home match, played in mid-January, the team coached by Di Pinto beat Verona for 3-0 and last Sunday snatched a point at the PalaBlanca in Piacenza. On this occasion, the French opposite Lawani showed off his skills, called on court by his coach at the place of Stefani, who injured himself. It was not a simple task, considered the fact that the player is now the ninth scorer of the tournament; however, in Apulia the Canadian setter Loeppky (6° position) did better, and he is the game’s reference point made by the hitter Falaschi and the third striker on weighted average. With him there is the former player Antonov (in Trento between 2015 and 2017 with a total of 83 matches and 405 points), while as middle blockers there is Alletti, who plays diagonally with Larizza and Gargiulo.
THE BRACKGROUND The competition between Prisma Taranto and Trentino Volley was back on the scene last season, almost twelve years since the last time. Between 2000 and 2010, the two societies competed against each other fourteen times in the regular season matches of the at the time A1 Series championship. The overall toll includes seventeen competitions, in which the yellow-blue Club is ahead for 10-7 and won eight out of the ten latest matches, included the two of the regular season 2021/22 and the one of this first round: for 3-1 on November 24th 2021 in Apulia, for 3-0 on February 13th 2022 and on November 13th 2022 in Trento. The yellow-blue team won three out of the seven matches played on the Apulian court, and conquered the PalaFiom (another arena in the Apulian city) with a 3-1 victory on March 15th 2008 and then the PalaMazzola on January 24th 2010 (in three sets). The yellow-blue team was beaten in all the other cases: two for 0-3, one for 1-3 and two for 2-3.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Vincenzo Carcione (from Rome, in the A Series 2014) and Stefano Cesare (in the top class since 1999 and in the international since 2010), respectively in the seventh and twelfth seasonal match in the SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23. Carcione has a background with Trentino Volley only on the occasion of the 3-0 victory on last December 18th 2022 in Siena, while for Cesare the latest is the four-sets success in Modena ten days after, for the Italian Cup quarterfinal.
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be broadcast live on Radio Dolomiti, Trentino Volley network partner. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found at www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the radio report by live streaming.
