2023 Del Monte Coppa Italia, Silver Medal for Itas Trentino in Rome

The Del Monte® Coppa Italia 2023 is in the hands of Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. After surprisingly knocking out Perugia in the semifinals the day before, this afternoon the Emilians players also blocked the road to Itas Trentino in the last act of the competition, played in front of more than ten thousand attending spectators at the Palazzo dello Sport of Rome, confirming that they are the better shape team in SuperLega in this moment.
The yellow-blue lineup's run in the highest national trophy for the second consecutive time stopped just a step away from the finish line; the chance to inscribe its name in the roll of honor for the fourth time, eleven years after its most recent triumph, faded in three sets; a result that was perhaps too harsh for Kaziyski and his teammates, who in at least two partials tried to replied to the last to an opponent that played a very incisive volley on the serve (10 non-stop aces), incisive at the block and precise in attack (a team’s 54% with four errors). In particular it was Leal, MVP with 20 personal points and 67% at the net, and Lucarelli who marked the difference in the two hard-fought partials and dragged Piacenza in the second set, the only one that was marked by a wide gap. Kaziyski, the match's top scorer with 21 points (68% at the net, two walls and two aces), long tried to take the lead, but the comeback attempt led by the captain was snuffed out in the final set once again at the hands of the Cuban naturalized Brazilian setter.
