SuperLega, last away game of the regular season on Sunday in Veneto

The 21th round of the regular season SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23, the tenth of the second leg round, is being played this weekend. On Sunday, March 5th, Itas Trentino will play the last away game of its championship, visiting Pallavolo Padova at the Kioene Arena; kickoff is scheduled at 6 p.m.. Live coverage on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on RAI PLAY and OTT Volleyball World Tv platforms.
HERE IS ITAS TRENTINO Set aside the parenthesis related to the Final Four of the Coppa Italia, the yellow-blue team return to focus on the regular season, which with two rounds by the term sees them in third position in the standings, with valid ambitions to try to catch the second place currently occupied by Modena (ahead by one point), but also with the need to watch their backs from the comeback attempt of Civitanova (fourth at three lengths). Lorenzetti's team is in any case master of its own destiny; by obtaining the entire stake in the next two rounds it would certainly rank immediately behind Perugia, being able to play the direct match with the Emilians players on March 12th at the BLM Group Arena. Instead, four points are needed to defend the current third place, a result that would prevent Lube from achieving its comeback attempt even if Lube wins both matches. Indeed, in the event of a tied finish, it would be the players from Marche who would remain ahead in terms of most wins. For all these reasons, Itas Trentino therefore wants to win in Padua, a result that would eventually correspond to the 400th regular season victory in Trentino Volley's history.
"We return to focus our attention on the championship, before opening a new European parenthesis, with a lot of determination to attempt to win" stressed coach Angelo Lorenzetti during the match presentation, “We need the points at stake both to keep alive our hopes for the second place and also to keep Civitanova at a safe distance, which is chasing us just three lengths away. In front of us we will find a team like Padua that, as has often happened in the recent past, will not give us anything and will try to throw us all-off balance with their own weapons. We will have to show that we are ready from the start to play a complicated game."
The team will reach Padua in the early evening today, after performing the eve training at the BLM Group Arena in the afternoon, following the bus transfer to Veneto region with all fourteen members of the roster; at the end of the match they will not return to Trento, but will continue their journey directly to Poland, where they will play the first leg of the Champions League quarter finals on Tuesday night. In both engagements the chances are high to see middle player Srecko Lisinac, who has been training with the group for more than ten days now, on the court. The Kioene Arena game will be the 979th official match for the Street Trener club, the 36th of the season (balance: 24 wins, 11 losses), and will see the yellow-blue club seek its 328th ever away victory.
THE OPPONENTS Pallavolo Padova is getting ready to play its last home match of its regular season with its historical opponent Trentino Volley, and it will do so with the utmost need of points in order to close early the “safeness discourse”. Indeed, the lineup coached by Jacopo Cuttini boasts a three-point lead over trail-end Siena; an important outcome but still not enough in view of the last two matchdays, achieved especially thanks to the recent victories in the home match with Taranto and the away match in Monza, just in the previous round. In the first round, the white-black team collected points against all the teams close to them in the rankings (in addition to the three with the Ionians players, there are two with Cisterna and one with Siena itself), proving that they deserve acknowledgment in the category. Statistics tell that the Venetians players have won at least two sets at home in three of the four matches played in the downturn of the season, with only one 0-3 defeat to Civitanova. Among the individuals, shines the Serbian opposite player Dusan Petkovic, fourth best scorer and seventh ace man of the tournament, and Japanese setter Takahashi, the third best receiver on average, but also an excellent hitter as evidenced by the 50% average in attack and the fifth place in the ranking of players in his role.
THE BACKGROUND The forty-first official confrontation in the history between the two clubs will be played on Sunday; the balance is definitely in favor of the yellow-blue team, winners in thirty-three matches, but the Venetians players have found success in three of the last nine games played. In nineteen previous official matches played in Veneto, the locals have won only four times, the last in the Game 2 of the Play Off Scudetto quarterfinals on April 7th, 2019. The most recent yellow-blue team victory 1-3 (with sets of 25-27, 16-25, 25-20, 21-25) on Padua soil thus dates back to the last match, played on February 22th, 2022. Precisely in Padua, Trentino Volley won the first away victory in its history: it was January 5th, 2001, and the then Itas Gruppo Diatec Trentino coached by Bruno Bagnoli won 3-1 in what was then called Pala San Lazzaro; Padua’s coach was Angelo Lorenzetti. The first leg match of the current regular season was won 3-0 by the yellow-blue lineup (25-15, 25-16, 25-21) on December 3th, with Lisinac MVP (14 points).
THE REFEREES The match will be managed by Giuseppe Curto (from Gorizia, in Serie A since 2013) and Marco Braico (from Turin, referee since 2003), in their eleventh and eighth matches of the season in SuperLega Credem Banca 2022/23, respectively. The most recent match between Florian and Trentino Volley dates back to a 3-0 home win over Monza on January 29th, while for Braico the last match with the yellow-blue team dates back on April 24th, 2022 (Trento-Civitanova 1-3, Game 4 of the Play Off Scudetto).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be reported live by Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found at www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the radio report in live streaming. The live video streaming will also be available on the OTT platform "Volleyball World TV”, the service is pay-per-view.
