Itas Trentino-Cucine Lube Civitanova 3-1, the match 1 report

Game 1 report. The two teams get on court in front of a fully booked BLM Group Arena; Itas Trentino starting six includes: Sbertoli as setter, Kaziyski as opposite spiker, Michieletto and Lavia as hitter spikers, Podrascanin and Lisinac as middle blockers, Laurenzano as libero; Cucine Lube includes: De Cecco as setter, Zaytsev as opposite, Nikolov and Yant as hitter spikers, Anzani and Chinenyeze as middle blockers and Balaso as libero. The hosts start wild at service, scoring directly with Michieletto and Sbertoli with a +2 (4-2), which right after goes to +3 thanks to Kaziyski (6-3). Civitanova stands up to the sideout phase (9-7), but Trento takes perfect advantage of the home court (11-8). In the middle of the set, Yant makes a comeback (12-11), but then Kaziyski’s two block makes Itas Trentino go to +4 advantage (17-13, Blengini timeout). When the situation seems to be in Trentino's hands (19-16 and then 22-19), the guests come back again with Nikolov (22-21). Lorenzetti calls a timeout, but when the game restarts, Anzani's ace sets the tie at 23. The sprint is of the yellow-blue brand: sideout by Michieletto and comeback by Lavia (25-23).
The second set restarts from the point-to-point fight seen at the end of the previous set; Itas Trentino gains a two-point lead (5-3), but at 6-4 it has to give up Lisinac (back problems, D'Heer in in his place) and suffers the psychological setback, as Cucine Lube takes the lead as early as 7-8. Then, Itas Trentino rises again and with Kaziyski and Lavia scored and advantage (12-11) and a sprint (17-14), also thanks to Zaytsev error. Lavia wastes everything with two uncertain pipes (18-18), then Kaziyski’s attacks scores a +2 (19-21). The break marks the set winner, because then the opponents go to the change of ends at 1-1 (23-25, Nikolov).
Cucine Lube lead attack and block also in the third set (2-5, 7-9 and 8-11), and overrides Trento even when it goes wild at the net (5-5). D’Heer, Kaziyski and Podrascanin make the team go back on track (14-12; 16-13). Civitanova tries to reply (17-15), but then gradually gives way to its opponents, swamped by Kaziyski's serves (21-15) and limited by its own errors at the net. Game 1 is in the yellow-blue team’s hand already on 25-17!
