Rychlicki: "I've had a yellow-blue jersey at home since 2004. I'll tell you why"

The first interview as a Trentino Volley player for Kamil Rychlicki, 26-year-old opposite, officially announced today.
Welcome to Trentino Volley, Kamil!
"Thank you! Since I started playing in the SuperLega I have faced Trento many times and I have always done it with great pleasure because I knew I was facing a very organized, competitive Club and always excellently accompanied by its fans; it is nice to think now that I have all that on my side. Wearing the yellow-blue jersey will give me excitement and responsibility because I will find the Scudetto sewn on it. I want to work hard during the season to make sure it stays on our uniforms and to try to win every game. And then there is a curious anecdote to tell, which explains how Trentino Volley was evidently in my destiny."
Which is?
"It's been since 2004, when I was eight years old, that I have a number 11 jersey of Trento at home. My brother Damian brought it to me, who on October 24th of that year played at PalaTrento with Strassen, the Luxembourg club where I also started playing, for a Top Teams Cup qualifying phase match. The defeat was stark, but he came back from Italy with this gift; perhaps a kind of premonition, but the fact remains that this is why I chose to wear 11 for this experience in Trento. By wearing it I close a circle that, unknowingly, I had opened when I was still a child and already dreamed of becoming a volleyball player."
So the choice to play volleyball was not at all accidental....
"Absolutely not. It is true that I was born and raised in a country like Luxembourg that has little tradition in this respect, but my parents are Polish and they came to this country to play volleyball. In my house we were always talking about the sport and watching Polish TV, which of course broadcast many matches. Trying to become an athlete was a natural consequence."
What were your role models approaching the sport?
"Obviously two players who played the opposite role: the Polish Marius Wlazly and the Czech David Konecny, on television they were my favorites. And then Giba; who I think for young people of my generation was a great inspiration; he could do everything and he always did it well."
In what mood are you coming to Trento?
"I won a lot in the recent past, but all that doesn't matter anymore; now I only want to look to the future and to Itas Trentino with the goal of writing more important pages in my career and in the history of the club that chose me. For this reason we know that we will have to be patient and willing to grow a little at a time, aware that this team has great potential and is still young. It can improve a lot."
The change compared to the past is that you will play with Italian status....
"It's a good change, especially because Trento was already a very Italian team, so this group can really become a backbone of the national team. We will have an extra push to do well and I'm sure we will be looked upon with sympathy from all over Italy."
