SuperLega, Itas Trentino wins 3-1 in Milan and remains at the top of the rankings

Itas Trentino puts in the fifth gear and flies past Milan. Wednesday evening on Allianz court, the Italian Champion lineup kept its unbeaten streak in the SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 regular season, securing the three points up for grabs in the midweek championship round (the fifth overall) thanks to a 3-1 final score.
The hard-earned victory not only projects the Gialloblùs even higher in the rankings, but also gives them a good mentality going forward. Early in the match the hosts tested the resistance of Soli's team, which managed to win the opening set thanks to a final acceleration and then lost the next one, pierced by Milan’s attack and serve. At 1-1, Trento’s high-ball trio Michieletto-Lavia-Rychlicki (56 points scored between the three) firmly took the reins of the match, keeping their opponents at bay with a series of winning attacks (67% in the third set, 65% in the fourth). In particular, Alessandro was the player that made the difference, not only at the net (59%), but also with his block and his serve; he was well backed up by his two teammates, who worked tremendously at distance. Milan could no longer hold up to the guests’ rhythm, gradually giving more and more space; Trento was not only excellent under the direction of Sbertoli, but also very effective in the second line, thanks to a good alternation between the two liberos Laurenzano and Pace, proposed by coach Soli from the second part of the match onwards.
Below is the scoreboard of the match (fifth round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 regular season) played Wednesday evening at the Allianz Cloud arena in Milan.
