CEV Champions League, Trentino Itas wins in France and flies alone to the top of Pool B

The mini-cycle of four away games in a row begins in the best possible way for Trentino Itas. Wednesday night, the Italian Champions imposed their authority in Tours, France, on a traditionally challenging court, winning the top clash in Pool B of the 2024 CEV Champions League (second round).
The 3-1 victory at Salle Robert Grenon against the French allows the yellow-blue Team to remain alone at the top of the group standings and further extend their streak of seasonal victories, reaching nine wins in ten matches played since the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
To achieve this, a display of maturity, character, and determination in crucial moments of the evening was required. After dominating the first set from start to finish, excelling in blocks and counterattacks, the contest became heated and closely contested. Tours attempted several times to take control of the game, as seen in the second set until 21-20 and in the following one at 21-19. However, they only succeeded in the latter case, winning the set. In the previous and final sets, they were pierced by the outstanding Alessandro Michieletto (20 points with 5 blocks and 4 aces!) and the yellow-blue Team's ability to change gears during crucial moments. In the end, four Trentino players reached double digits (in addition to the MVP, also Lavia, Rychlicki, and Kozamernik, with 10, 11, and 12 points, respectively); block and serve fundamentals (both scoring 11 times) tipped the balance in favour of Trentino Volley for three precious and well-deserved points.
