SuperLega, Sunday afternoon showdown at the top with Perugia: the match in numbers

The preparation of Itas Trentino men's team for the match against Sir Safety Susa Perugia on Sunday at 3:45 pm has resumed today at the ilT quotidiano Arena. The clash at the top of the standings between the Italian Champions and the new World Champions will be valid for the tenth round of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 regular season. After returning from Poland on Thursday late afternoon, today, the yellow-blue team underwent a double training session (weights and individual technique in the morning, group work in the evening) to approach the challenge in the best possible way.
This will be only the third official encounter in the last twelve months between the two teams. Nevertheless, Perugia, with 52 official matches, is the fourth most frequently faced opponent by Trentino Volley in its over two-decade history, following only Civitanova (96), Modena (83), and Piacenza (74). The recent past has also seen title matches disputed between the two clubs; two finals were played in 2022: the Italian Cup and the Club World Championship (both won by Perugia).
The overall record favours the Umbrians at 23-29, thanks also to six victories in the last six matches played. The most recent yellow-blue success dates back to March 30, 2022 (3-2 in Perugia in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal); the first ever encounter dates back to November 7, 2012, at PalaBaton: Trento also won in that case, but in three sets. In its history, Trentino Volley has won fifteen out of twenty-two official matches played at home against Sir Safety Susa Perugia.
