Pallavolo Padova-Itas Trentino 0-3, the match report

The match report. Itas Trentino enters the sold-out Kioene Arena in a standard lineup: Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Lavia and Michieletto as hammers in area 4, Podrascanin and Kozamernik at the center, Laurenzano as libero. Pallavolo Padova retaliates with Falaschi as setter, in diagonal with Gabi Garcia, Desmet and Gardini as spikers, Crosato and Plak in the middle, Zenger as libero. The start is all in favour of the hosts who, with block and counterattack, especially by Gardini, sprint to 0-4. Trento takes little time to gain ground on the opponents: Michieletto scores twice from area 4, then Rychlicki (ace) and Podrascanin (three consecutive blocks) exalt the guest break point phase for 6-9. Later, the yellow-blue team tried to run away (11-7) with Michieletto (another ace), almost got caught by Gardini (12-10) before running away again with the captain and Alessandro (17-13). The end of the partial is controlled by the Italian Champions (22-18), who close the score with the usual Podrascanin (4 points to 25-20).
The second set was more balanced; Itas Trentino tried several times to escape with Rychlicki and Lavia (6-4), but was taken back by Padova (with Guzzo on court in place of Gabi Garcia) until 10-10. Trento’s opposite player is on fire and creates a new gap (12-10 and 16-13), well backed in this case by Michieletto; this time, too, the Paduans do not give up and with Desmet they get back in the slipstream (18-16 and then 21-20) before tying the score at 21 with an ace by the newly-entered Porro. The challenge continues ball change after ball change (24-24, 28-28); at the advantages it is always Trento that stays in front, but has to wait for Lavia's attack and the tenth chance to take a 2-0 lead (34-32).
In the third set, the Italian Champions took advantage of the positive close of the previous partial to start off on the right foot right away (6-4 and 11-7): Rychlicki passes with regularity along with Lavia. The locals again tried to regroup with Desmet in great evidence, but their attempt (coming up to 21-20) was extinguished by Michieletto's attacks and the spurt of Rychlicki (24-21 and then 25-22), who was rightly voted as MVP of the match.
