Reigning German champion team, thanks to their victory in the 2023 Scudetto Final in three games (2-1) over their historical opponents VfB Friedrichshafen, who on that occasion were reached at thirteen as far as the number of national title victories is concerned. The Orangioneers' palmares includes six national cups (they have already gained access to the 2024 Final, which will be played on 3 March against Herrsching), two Super Cups and a CEV Cup, which they won in 2016 when Roberto Serniotti was on the bench to lead the team. In the Champions League, on the other hand, their best ever result is third place, recorded in the 2015 edition, when they hosted the Final Four at home.
The roster, led by coach Joel Banks (who took the place of Frenchman Enard on the bench since last June) has changed little compared to last season; of the sextet that won the Bundesliga there is no longer only the central player Brehme (who moved to Modena), replaced by Estonian Tammemaa (former Tours and Maaseik). They are currently in first place in the Bundesliga with 46 points and only one defeat in seventeen matches.
