SuperLega, on Sunday at the ilT quotidiano Arena the last round of the regular season

The twenty-second and final round of SuperLega Credem Banca 2023/24 regular season will be played entirely on Sunday, March 3. Itas Trentino will once again play a home match, hosting Pallavolo Padova at the ilT quotidiano Arena. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm: live broadcast on Radio Dolomiti and streaming live on the OTT Volleyball World Tv platform.
ITAS TRENTINO The regular season of the Italian Champions ends in front of their home crowd, in a match with an irrelevant result, as the Gialloblù already earned the first place in the standings a couple of weeks ago.
“With Sunday's match, the SuperLega regular season comes to a close and, regardless of the importance of what is at stake, we want to honour to the end this first phase of the tournament, which has given us much satisfaction and has seen us always play as protagonists - explained coach Fabio Soli - . The match against Padua will also give us the opportunity to test the condition of all the players at our disposal and to do so against a high-level opponent. It’s an opportunity to be seized in view of the imminent start of the Scudetto Play Offs".
Itas Trentino will be playing without their main setter Riccardo Sbertoli (who suffered a fracture of the proximal phalanx of the fifth finger of his left hand in Thursday night's match against Berlin: he will be operated early next week), which is why the backup to Acquarone will be Francesco Bernardis (born in 2004), setter of the UniTrento Volleyball team, leader of the C group of the Serie B. On this occasion Trentino Volley will play the 1,029th official match in its history, the 471st home match overall, and will be chasing the 719th success ever. In the regular season, which ends on Sunday evening, the Gialloblù are the only ones to have so far kept their home court inviolate: ten victories in as many matches, conceding only one point to the opponents (against Taranto on 28 October 2023 in the first leg) out of the thirty available.
THE OPPONENTS Pallavolo Padova will come to Trento on Sunday evening already sure to occupy the final tenth position in the standings, a result that once again allowed the historic club from Veneto to keep its position in the highest national category. Awaiting the Play Offs for fifth place (which will start immediately after the conclusion of the quarter-finals and which will see Padua involved along with Cisterna and the four teams eliminated from the Scudetto race), the formation coached by Jacopo Cuttini can therefore continue to test its condition on the tricolour court of the ilT quotidiano Arena, where it will arrive with seven victories in twenty-one matches, two of which away (decisive wins, considering that they were obtained in Catania and Taranto). During the twenty-one rounds of the championship, the Paduans have shown an excellent serve performance (the fourth in the category for aces scored: 118) thanks to valuable experts of the fundamental such as opposite player Gabi Garcia (sixth in the individual ranking dedicated to the serve), spiker Gardini (thirteenth) and middle blocker Plak (eighteenth). The national team’s area 4 player has had a great championship, with 280 points scored so far (twelfth top scorer in the tournament) and his presence among the top twenty attackers, in a ranking that sees the other starting scorer, the very young Porro (2004), in seventh place. Among the most eagerly awaited players is former Trentino libero Julian Zenger (ninth receiver), who was also in Trento on Thursday evening to watch the Champions League match between his two previous clubs: Trentino Volley and Berlin Recycling Volleys.
PREVIOUS MATCHES On Sunday the forty-third official match in the history of the two clubs will be played; the tally is clearly in favour of the hosts, who have won on thirty-five occasions, but the Paduans have won in three of the last ten matches played, including the third-last previous match played in Trento (3 November 2021, 2-3). In the most recent one, played on 3 December 2022, Trentino Volley's success came in three sets (25-15, 25-16, 25-21), just as it happened in the first leg match (26 December, with scores of 20-25, 32-34, 22-25 and Rychlicki MVP). In the twenty-one official matches played in Trento, Padua has won only twice more: 7 November 2004 (1-3) and 20 November 2019 (2-3). The first ever home match was also played against the Veneto club: 22 October 2000, success in the tie break.
THE REFEREES The match will be directed by Serena Salvati (from Palestrina - Rome, in Serie A since 2018) and Dominga Lot (from Santa Lucia di Piave - Treviso, in Serie A since 2010 and international since 2017), respectively in their third and fifteenth matches of this season. The only one that has already refereed a Trentino Volley match is Lot, who recently directed at the ilT quotidiano Arena the match closed in four sets against Civitanova (3-1, on 14 February).
RADIO, INTERNET, AND TV The match will be covered in live commentary by Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where live radio commentary can also be followed via streaming.
The live video streaming on the OTT platform "Volleyball World Tv" is also confirmed; there is a charge for the service. For more information on how to access it, please visit https://it.volleyballworld.com/volleyball-tv-it.
