Play Off, on Wednesday back to ilT quotidiano Arena for the Bronze Final match #3

On Wednesday, April 24th at the ilT quotidiano Arena is game 3 of the Final Round for the 3rd place Play Off Scudetto Credem Banca 2024. After Saturday's defeat in Lombardy, Itas Trentino returns to face Allianz Milano in front of their home crowd. Kick-off scheduled for 8:30 p.m.: live Radio Dolomiti broadcast and live streaming on the OTT platform VBTV.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO The yellow-blue lineup returns to their friendly (tricolour) court with the goal of regaining the lead in the series, now deadlocked at 1-1, to boost their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. The chances of succeeding also pass from the progress in the game that can now be directed again in the control room by Riccardo Sbertoli, recovered to all intents and purposes as he demonstrated during game 2 in Milan.
"It's a series that lives on the edge of the balance, as the first two games showed, decided only by a handful of points in the tie break; we deserved to win game 1 and Milan did the same in game 2, playing better than us - explained coach Fabio Soli as he presented the match - . In view of game 3 we are working to increase the quality of our game and improve the understanding with the returning Sbertoli. We want the point of 2-1; to do so we will need vigour, determination and maximum attention to details that, in matches decided by a minimum gap like these, make the difference. There are very few days left until the end of the season, we want to be competitive and to do that we need to spend every resource at our disposal".
The team will complete the preparation for the appointment with this afternoon's training and Wednesday morning's training at the ilT quotidiano Arena, still lamenting the absence of Lavia (low-grade rectus abdominis injury suffered in the aftermath of the Play Off Semifinal with Monza). It will be match number 1,042 in the history of Trentino Volley's men's team, the 46th of the season (a balance of 34 wins and 11 losses), and the 480th ever at home, where only in 100 instances has the team stumbled into defeat.
THE OPPONTENTS Allianz Milano returns to Trento seven days after game 1, galvanised by the victory, the first of the season against the Italian champions, obtained on Saturday night at home, which allowed them to restore a tie in the series that assigns a place in the top continental competition. In order to gain access to the CEV Champions League (a goal never reached before in the history of the club), the team coached by Roberto Piazza will once again rely on the high-ball pair of Ishikawa and Reggers (who scored 41 and 43 times, respectively, in the first two matches of the series), on Loser's blocks, and on the game management of director Porro, who recorded his best personal score of the entire season in game 2: 7 points, of which four on serve, one on attack and two on block (including the one that decided the match, on Rychlicki).
BACKGROUND The total tally of official matches between Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano is twenty-six, with twenty-two victories for the yellow-blue, who have won five of the last six matches played, including three (out of four) this season. The meneghini in their history have won only twice in Trento in nine previous meetings: on 15 October 2017 (2-3) and on 26 November (1-3).
THE SERIES Itas Trentino and Allianz Milano are 1-1 in the Credem Banca 2024 Scudetto Play Off Final 3 finals series, which will be played at the best of five games, by virtue of the 3-2 draw on 17 April at the T quotidiano Arena with scores of 23-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-11 and the 2-3 obtained by Milano at home three days later (24-26, 25-17, 16-25, 27-25, 20-22). After Wednesday's match, the teams will face each other again at the Allianz for Game 4 on Saturday, 27 April at 20.30. The possible match 5, which will in any case award the pass for the 2025 CEV Champions League to the winner, will instead be played in Trentino on Tuesday 30 April at 20.30.
THE REFEREES The direction of game 3 will be entrusted to Ilaria Vagni (of Perugia, in Serie A since 2003 and international since 2011) and Rocco Brancati (of Città di Castello - Perugia, in the top category since 2015), respectively at their sixteenth and fifteenth matches of the season against SuperLega teams. Vagni's last meeting with Trentino Volleyball was in the home tie break defeat in game 3 of the semi-final against Monza (April 7th), while Brancati returns to referee the yellow-blue after the 3-0 home win over Modena in game 3 of the quarter-finals (17 March).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV Game 3 will be reported live by Radio Dolomiti, media partner of Trentino Volleyball. The frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the live radio commentary in streaming.
