Lavia, Michieletto, Sbertoli and Laurenzano at the Paris 2024 Olympics

Gabriele Laurenzano, Daniele Lavia, Alessandro Michieletto and Riccardo Sbertoli will represent Trentino Volley in the blue jersey at the 33rd edition of the Olympic Games of the modern era, which will take place between 27 July and 11 August 2024 in Paris, France.
This afternoon Italy's Technical Commissioner Ferdinando De Giorgi announced the official list of thirteen players who will take part in the five-round men's volleyball tournament for the Italian national team. Among them, as anticipated, are the names of four reigning European Champions and two others who grew up in the Trentino youth sector, Simone Giannelli and Gianluca Galassi. For Lavia, Michieletto and Sbertoli, the one that will kick off with the challenge against Brazil on 27 July will be the second Olympics in their careers, after the one in Tokyo in 2021. For Laurenzano, who will initially participate as a ‘reserve’ of the twelve players, it will be the debut.
This is the complete list of Italy's thirteen call-ups for the 2024 Paris Olympics:
Setters: Simone Giannelli (Perugia) and Riccardo Sbertoli (Trento).
Spikers: Alessandro Michieletto (Trento), Daniele Lavia (Trento), Luca Porro (Padua), Mattia Bottolo (Civitanova).
Middle Blockers: Gianluca Galassi (Piacenza), Roberto Russo (Perugia), Giovanni Sanguinetti (Modena).
Opposite Players: Yuri Romanò (Piacenza), Alessandro Bovolenta (Piacenza).
Libero: Fabio Balaso (Civitanova)
Reserve: Gabriele Laurenzano (Libero - Trento).
Before heading to France, the ‘Azzurri’ will continue their preparation throughout this week in Cavalese, while during the next week they will play two friendly matches against Argentina: on 16 July in Florence (PalaWanny) and on 18 July in Bologna (PalaDozza); both scheduled at 9pm and live on Rai Sport.
The four Azzurri join Flavio Gualberto and Jan Kozamernik, who had already been confirmed in the previous days to be part of the Olympic rosters of Brazil and Slovenia.
