European Champions score immediately in the SuperLega 2024/25: Cisterna defeated 3-1

The 2024/25 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season begins with a valuable away victory for Itas Trentino. This evening, the European Champions marked their season debut in the Italian championship by defeating Cisterna di Latina in four sets; a result that immediately propels them to the top of the standings and provides the right amount of enthusiasm at the start of what will be a difficult and highly competitive tournament.
Pre-match concerns about a challenging encounter proved to be well-founded; in the first three sets, as had happened eleven months earlier in a similar match, the Pontine team put up a tough fight, making the former Soli’s team suffer, losing contact in the first set after leading 20-18, before finding the right path to secure the final 3-1. Down 0-1, Itas Trentino had to necessarily raise the quality of their side-out phase, improved their attack percentages (ultimately the key factor across the net with a total of 56%), and managed to outpace Cisterna in both the second and third periods thanks to the consistency of Lavia (16 points with 52%), Michieletto (18 with 59%), and Flavio, who scored an exceptional 13 out of 14 in the first tempo. At 2-1, the local team’s energy quickly waned, and the European Champions took advantage to win the set hands down, securing the entire stake. A haul that the Club from Via del Brennero had not achieved in Lazio for almost four years (since November 1, 2020, also 3-1).
