SuperLega, on Sunday match in Milan for third round of regular season

The third round of the SuperLega CredemBanca 2024/25 regular season starts this weekend. On Sunday, October 13, Itas Trentino will play their second away match, facing Allianz Milano in the traditional insurance derby. The match at Allianz Cloud (formerly PalaLido) will start at 7 PM, with live commentary on Radio Dolomiti and live streaming (paid) on OTT platforms VBTV and DAZN.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Itas Trentino, still unbeaten and consistently leading the regular season standings for nearly eleven months, resumes its positive streak with the full roster available. Recently, even opposite hitter Kamil Rychlicki, who had suffered a right ankle sprain during the Supercup Final Four in Florence, has returned to regular training and will provide an additional option for coach Fabio Soli's starting six.
"The championship is starting to heat up and Sunday's match in Milan will make it even clearer," emphasized the yellow-blue coach during the match presentation. "On Sunday, we'll face a team that achieved an important victory against Civitanova in the previous round, thanks to a great team performance that highlighted the quality of their service and, more generally, their break-point phase. To perform well in this match, we'll need to deliver substantial volleyball in terms of quality and continuity. Our physical and technical growth process is continuing with hard work in the gym, and the match in Milan will be the right time to measure our progress against a strong opponent. I'm confident because this week we've recovered an important player like Rychlicki, who has added value to our training sessions".
Trentino Volley will arrive in Milan early this evening, after conducting their pre-match training at the ilT quotidiano Arena in the afternoon. This will be the 1,049th official match in the history of the men's sector of Trentino Volley, the 596th in the regular season, and they will be seeking their 730th overall victory, potentially the 350th away win.
THE OPPONENTS The resounding 3-0 home victory over Civitanova last weekend allowed Allianz Milano to earn their first points of the season and quickly move on after the debut loss in Taranto. Against Cucine Lube, coach Roberto Piazza's team (in his sixth consecutive season with the team) demonstrated the potential of a squad that will, starting in November, compete in the European top tier for the first time, participating in the 2025 CEV Champions League. In this context, the presence of players with significant international experience like Kaziyski (who has won the competition three times with Trento), Louati (Olympic gold in Paris), and Reggers will be very useful to guide a roster full of talented young players. Setter Porro, libero Catania, outside hitter Gardini, and opposite Barotto are promising talents who could guarantee an additional leap in quality. The team also includes three valuable Italian middle blockers: Piano, Vitelli, and Larizza (recently arrived from Lube), and a Canadian middle blocker, Schnitzer, who excel in blocking and serving, two of the most interesting characteristics of the Lombard team.
FOUR EXES The match will feature the presence of four former players who significantly contributed to the history of the clubs they previously played for.
In the Itas Trentino lineup, there will be setter Riccardo Sbertoli (who played in Milan from 2015 to 2021), middle blocker Jan Kozamernik (under the Madonnina from 2018 to 2021), and libero Nicola Pesaresi (active in Lombardy from 2018 to 2023). Together, in 2021, they helped win the Challenge Cup, which currently stands as the only title held by the Milanese club. On the Allianz Milano side, there will be Matey Kaziyski, who made 433 official appearances in yellow and blue from 2007 to 2023, scoring 6,066 personal points and winning 17 trophies: 4 World Club Championships, 3 Champions Cups, 5 Italian Championships, 3 Italian Cups, and 2 Italian Super Cups. He is the only player for whom Trentino Volley decided to retire his jersey number: permanently, number 1.
BACKGROUND  The total count of official matches between Trentino Volley and Powervolley Milano stands at twenty-eight, with twenty-two victories for the yellow-blues and six for the Lombards. Historically, the Milanese have won only three times at home against Trento, with two of those victories occurring this calendar year (on April 20 in a tie-break and a week later by 3-1 during the playoff series for third place), managing to secure just five sets in the remaining ten matches. The upcoming match will be held for the ninth time at PalaLido in Milan (now Allianz Cloud); previous home matches took place at PalaYamamay in Busto Arsizio (March 3, 2019; February 5, 2017; and December 30, 2017), at Forum di Assago (February 8, 2015), and at PalaBorsani in Castellanza (December 5, 2015). The last away victory for Trentino was on November 15, 2023, with a score of 3-1.
THE REFEREES The match will be officiated by the duo composed of Alessandro Cerra (from Bologna, in Serie A since 2014) and Michele Brunelli (from Falconara Marittima - Ancona, in the top category since 2019). The last encounter with Trentino Volley for Cerra dates back to September 21 (a 3-0 victory against Monza in the Supercoppa semifinals in Florence), while Brunelli's only previous match was on January 29, 2023, coincidentally against another Lombard team: Monza, which lost that time by 3-0. Cerra has already officiated two significant derbies: on February 5, 2020, in Trento (home win 3-1) and on December 30, 2021, in Milan (away win 3-0).
RADIO, INTERNET AND TV The match will be covered live by Radio Dolomiti, the media partner of Trentino Volley. Frequencies to listen to the regional network can be found on the website www.radiodolomiti.com, where it will also be possible to follow the live radio commentary via streaming.
Live video streaming will also be confirmed on two distinct OTT platforms: VBTV and DAZN; the service is subscription-based for both.
On television, a summary of the match will air on Monday, October 14, at 9:50 PM on RTTR, the media partner of Trentino Volley.
Online, point-by-point updates will be provided by the Lega Pallavolo Serie A website (www.legavolley.it) and www.trentinovolley.it, and will also be active on the yellow-blue social networks (www.trentinovolley.it/facebook, www.trentinovolley.it/instagram, and www.trentinovolley.it/twitter).
