Soli on "RTTR Volley": "We have plenty of room for improvement, but the spirit is ok"

The coach of the Itas Trentino men's team, Fabio Soli, was a guest on RTTR Monday evening for the weekly episode of "RTTR Volley" the magazine dedicated to Trentino Volley by the yellow-blue TV partner. Here are some of the most interesting points from his interview.

MILAN. "Taking home the entire prize from Allianz Cloud is never easy because Powervolley, despite having changed several players, has maintained the same team spirit it had last season and it is excellently coached by Roberto Piazza. I am therefore very pleased with the result, achieved by fighting tooth and nail as we have been doing lately. It was a good test bed, happily passed."

OUR VOLLEYBALL. "Our break point phase is working well, and it's important that it remains so because a high-level team must always be efficient in this aspect of the game. Perhaps we are not as powerful as other teams in serving, where we are indeed lacking a few kilometers per hour in ball speed, but we manage to compensate well with other qualities, such as the good work done between blocking, defense, and counterattack."

RYCHLICKI. “Kamil is recovering well from his injury, but he is not yet ready to face a match as a starter in a competitive tournament like the Italian one. It takes time to regain his best form and match rhythm, and for this reason, Gabi Garcia is currently in the starting six, performing at a high level.”

START. "In these first three matches of the championship, I have truly appreciated my team's ability to stay focused, playing well point for point with the opponents even when the overall performance wasn't perfect. It's important to have this spirit because there will always be problems throughout the season, especially when playing many important matches in different events. We still have plenty of room for improvement, particularly in our side-out phase, which is currently giving us some headaches."

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. “Even more than that Sunday’s victory in May, in Antalya, the best thing I will remember of that period is how the team was able to live in a positive way the weeks leading up to the final, staying strong and trying to do the best, even in a difficult situation in which we were, due to the injuries of Sbertoli and Lavia. Thanks to the great bond within the team, we were able to achieve an amazing result.”

LEVEL OF SATISFACTION. “Coaches can never be fully satisfied; in fact, even after a good match we necessarily have to look for the things that don’t work to help prevent potential problems. Especially when you collect many victories during the league and you are at the top of the ranking you have to find within yourself the aspects that need to be improved. Meanwhile those who are chasing you, see you as a reference point to work on and perhaps it’s easier for them to make an analysis of the situation. This aspect is never easy to take care of.”

ROSTER. “The value of a team is assessed not only during the matches but also thanks to all the moments spent together during training and this was proven in the previous season. I’ve a roster with many valid alternatives and I am sure that many players who are now playing less, will later find space. Obviously I can't wish for that but I know it will be so.”

MODENA. “On Sunday we will receive the visit of Valsa Group and playing at home, in front of our audience, will undoubtedly be an advantage. It’s an opponent that has changed a lot since the previous season, improving the roster also from the point of view of physicality, and therefore we will have to pay a lot of attention to try to continue our path positively. Perugia? Until Sunday I think only about Modena.”
