Itas Trentino-Mint Vero Volley Monza 3-0, the match report
The match report. Itas Trentino had to do without Kozamernik and Bartha, which allowed space for the young Pellacani in the starting six alongside Flavio at the net; Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as outside hitters, and Laurenzano as libero completed the lineup. Mint Vero Volley Monza responded with Kreling as setter, Szwarc as opposite, Zaytsev and Rohrs as outside hitters, Beretta and Averill as middle blockers, and Gaggini as libero. At the start of the match, the home team tried to pull ahead several times (4-2 and 7-5) thanks to break points achieved by the outside hitter duo. However, it was Flavio's block on Zaytsev that truly widened the gap (10-7), with the yellow-blues then managing to keep their opponents at a safe distance with Rychlicki (13-9 and 15-12). Two aces from Michieletto gave a +6 advantage (19-13), making Eccheli's timeout ineffective; the European Champions confidently moved towards winning the first set (23-15) with another effective serve (point scored by Sbertoli). The change of sides came at 25-15 after an error from Zaytsev and another point from Kamil.
The script remains unchanged in the second set, with Rychlicki immediately making his presence felt at the net and from the service line, leading Trentino Volley’s first attempt to pull away (7-3) and forcing Monza to call an early timeout. After the break, the yellow-blue team continues to dominate in the break point phase (11-5 and 14-7), with Lavia excelling in attack thanks to precise sets from Sbertoli. Monza becomes nervous, showing imprecision in all fundamentals, and leaves space for the home team to further extend their lead (17-8). Itas Trentino comfortably manages their significant advantage (21-14) and secures a 2-0 lead with a 25-16 set win, sealed once again by Rychlicki.
The third set starts on a more balanced note, with Vero Volley Monza keeping pace in a point-by-point exchange (3-2 and 7-6), clearly inspired by coach Eccheli’s substitutions. Lavia finds a sharp cross-court angle, giving his team a +3 lead (9-6, Monza timeout), and Trento breaks away again, decisively: 11-6 with Flavio and later 16-12 with Rychlicki, despite Monza’s brief resurgence led by Marttila (14-12). The opportunity to close the match quickly is too tempting, and the yellow-blue team takes full advantage (20-15, 22-16). Michieletto adds another sharp cross-court spike, pushing Trento toward their second consecutive home victory with a 3-0 sweep, clinching the match at 25-20 with yet another decisive point by Rychlicki.
