2024 Fivb Club World Championship, all the useful information to follow the competition

The countdown is almost over for the FIVB Club World Championship 2024, the annual edition of the Club World Cup organized once again by the international federation in Brazil, this time in Uberlandia. On Tuesday, December 10, the tournament will start with the first matches of the group stage: Trentino Itas, already five-time winner (the last one in 2018 in Poland), will be the protagonist of the opening match, valid for the first round of Pool B.
Here are the main details about the tournament.

COMPETITION FORMAT

Unchanged from the previous ten editions in which Trentino Volley has participated: in Doha (Qatar) between 2009 and 2012, in Betim in 2013 and 2016, in Belo Horizonte in 2014, in Resovia and Czestochowa in 2018, and again in Betim in 2021 and 2022. The eight participating teams, representing four out of the five continents in the world (only Oceania is missing), will be divided into two groups (Pool A and Pool B) of four teams each in the first phase. They will face each other from December 10 to 13 in a single round-robin format, for a total of 12 matches. The top two teams from each group in the first phase will advance to the semifinals (scheduled for December 14), while the finals will be played on December 15. The third and fourth-placed teams will be directly eliminated. The points allocation will be the same as in the Italian championship: three points for a win in a maximum of four sets, two points for a tie-break victory, and one point for a fifth-set defeat. However, the first tiebreaker will be the number of victories. In case of the same number of victories by two teams in the final group standings, the criteria considered will be, in order: the number of points, set quotient, point quotient, and head-to-head result.
