Club World Championship: Trentino Itas dominates with another 3-0 sweep!

Trentino Itas continues its winning streak at the 2024 Club World Championship in Brazil, claiming yet another dominant 3-0 victory. Following Tuesday's commanding three-set triumph over Iran’s Shahdab, the European Champions doubled down tonight, securing a straight-set win against Argentina’s Ciudad Voley in their second Pool B match.
With a perfect 6-0 set record, the gialloblù have already secured their spot in this weekend’s Final Four in Uberlandia. This result makes their qualification mathematically certain, regardless of tonight’s match between Sada Cruzeiro (their next opponent, in the early hours of Friday morning Italian time). Trentino Itas will advance to the semifinals even before playing their final match of the group stage.
The semifinal berth was secured with a convincing win over the South American runners-up, who found themselves trailing Trentino from the very first set. Despite occasionally matching the Italian team’s rhythm (as seen in the tense conclusion of the second set), Ciudad Voley never truly appeared capable of turning the match around.
Coach Soli’s squad, which rested Rychlicki and Flavio for this match, maintained control throughout, leveraging superior net play in both attack (team hitting percentage of 55%) and blocking (11 points scored). Romanian middle blocker Bartha stood out with 8 points (78% efficiency on quick attacks) and 5 blocks, matched by Pellacani, who registered identical stats but with 3 blocks and an impressive 83% on quick sets.
In the rare moments of difficulty, Michieletto (11 points) and Gabi Garcia (also 11 points with a 56% attacking efficiency) stepped up to keep the game in Trentino’s hands.
