2024 Fivb Club World Championship to Sada Cruzeiro: Trentino Itas falls 1-3 in the Final

The dream of bringing the Club World Championship title for men's volleyball to Trento for the sixth time ends just short of the goal for Trentino Itas. The 2024 Club World Championship belongs to Sada Cruzeiro; the Brazilians won 3-1 in the final played this evening at the Arena Sabiazinho in Uberlândia, reaching five victories in the all-time standings, equal to Trentino Volley.
The clash between the European Champions and the South American Champions, as well as between the clubs that have won the tournament multiple times, ultimately favored the Brazilians. Supported by over six thousand spectators, they had a better approach to the game than their opponents, always giving the impression of being in control of the match, even when the determined yellow-blue team tried to respond and reverse the trend. This happened in the first set when Trento took the lead at 16-15 after always being forced to chase, but it also occurred after the yellow-blues showed character in the second set. At 1-1, Sada was able to turn the page again, repeatedly containing the Italian attempts to get back into the game and securing the third and fourth sets, led by an outstanding Wallace (23 points with 57% efficiency).
The understandable disappointment of narrowly missing out on such an extraordinary achievement does not diminish the great value of the silver medal that Soli's team secured tonight. After eliminating Lube on Saturday evening, Sbertoli and his teammates made life extremely difficult for the home team, fighting in every situation with the means at their disposal. The silver medal (the second in the yellow-blue's history) keeps the Trentino club on the podium for the tenth time (in eleven tournament participations), and bears the mark of Michieletto (21 points tonight as well, with 50% attack, 4 aces and one block), Flavio (10 with 67% in first tempo) and Lavia (10 points with several important contributions), who were the last to give up tonight. Alessandro and Pellacani, the two players who grew up in the yellow-blue youth sector, softened the disappointment by finding a place in the tournament's ideal lineup.
Below is the score sheet from the final of the 2024 Club World Championship, played tonight at the Arena Sabiazinho in Uberlandia.
