SuperLega, Itas Trentino-Allianz Milano 3-0 in the boxing day

Match Summary Without Kozamernik, still recovering and sitting on the sidelines supporting his teammates, Itas Trentino took to the court 29 days after their last home match with a starting six that included Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Michieletto and Lavia as outside hitters, Flavio and Bartha as middle blockers, and Laurenzano as libero. Allianz Milano, coached by Roberto Piazza, opted for Porro as setter, Reggers as opposite, Kaziyski and Louati as outside hitters, Schnitzer and Caneschi as middle blockers, and Catania as libero. The first highlight came from the replacement for the Slovenian, Romanian Bartha, who scored two consecutive blocks for an early 4-2 lead for the hosts. Milano quickly responded with Reggers (counterattack) and Louati (ace to make it 4-5). Michieletto then struck with an ace (7-5) and a pipe attack (9-6), forcing Allianz into a timeout. After the break, Louati’s second breakpoint tied the score at 11-10. Trento then regained control with a magical play from Lavia and a block from Sbertoli on Reggers (15-11), and extended their lead to 19-13 with a block from Bartha and two more aces from Michieletto. Milano fought back, but Itas Trentino quickly surged toward a 1-0 lead, which arrived at 25-18, thanks to more excellent serving from Alessandro. The contest becomes balanced again in the second set, with Milano accelerating with Reggers (attack) and Porro (ace) after the 6-6, achieving a +3 lead (6-9) which forces Soli to call the first timeout of the evening. Upon returning to the field, the trend is still in favor of the visitors (9-14) with the Belgian opposite counterattacking and with Kaziyski blocking Rychlicki twice in a row; the home team, with Gabi Garcia now on the field for Rychlicki, seems to be on the ropes but finds energy at the right moment. Sbertoli hits a positive streak of serves, including an ace, and Michieletto hammers from position 6, marking a significant recovery (14-15). Alessandro's block on Reggers after Piazza's game interruption ties the score at 16, leading to a sprint finish in the second part of the set: Trento takes the lead with Bartha (block and ace, a few seconds later, for 22-21) and then closes at the first opportunity (25-23) with an ace by Lavia that makes it 2-0. Itas Trentino does not slow down even at the start of the third set, jumping from 5-5 to 9-6 thanks to the usual Lavia and a very effective Flavio at the net. Allianz tries to come back (10-9), but the yellow-blue middles push them away again (14-10 and 15-11); the visitors still have some fuel to get closer with Kaziyski (16-14), but Bartha widens the gap again with an ace (18-14). This is the decisive move, as the yellow-blue team then concedes nothing more (21-16) and closes the set at 25-19 (attack by Gabi Garcia).
