SuperLega, 2025 begins with a victory at PalaPanini in Modena

In the Epiphany stocking, the Itas Trentino men's team finds three valuable points at PalaPanini in Modena for their first official commitment of 2025. The European Champions secured the postponed match of the fifteenth round of the SuperLega Credem Banca regular season, defeating the hosts of Valsa Group 3-1 in a comeback, continuing their chase of the league leaders Perugia (five points ahead but with one more match played) just ahead of their direct clash next weekend.
The 89th A22 derby confirmed what was expected, providing balance and excitement despite the eighteen-point difference in the standings between the two teams. Therefore, the three-point victory for the team coached by Fabio Soli is a good omen for the challenging month of January ahead, filled with league matches, CEV Cup, and Coppa Italia, and it reaffirms the team's great character. After being down 0-1, following a better start from their opponents, Itas Trentino was able to gradually shift the balance in their favor during the second hard-fought set and win the following sets in a neck-and-neck battle, decided in the final moments thanks to an improved break phase and a low number of errors (only four in attack and eighteen in serving). Key players in the crucial moments were Daniele Lavia (best scorer and MVP with 16 points, 61% efficiency, a block, and the ace that decided the last set in the advantage), a revitalized Alessandro Michieletto (15), and Gabi Garcia (10), who stepped in for Rychlicki from the second set and adapted well to the match's atmosphere.

Below is the scorecard of the match from the fifteenth round of the regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2024/25 played this evening at PalaPanini in Modena.
