2025 Del Monte Coppa Italia, bitter tie break for Itas Trentino

Itas Trentino's dream of playing their third final in the 2024/25 season ended in the fifth set of tonight's match at the Unipol Arena against Civitanova. Cucine Lube won the second semifinal of the Del Monte® Italian Cup 15-13 in the tie break, forcing the European Champions to end their run on the first of the two days of the Final Four in Bologna.
A bitter result, after two hours and fifteen minutes of battle, in which the two teams alternated in command of the match during the individual sets, and it was decided only in the sprint after the two teams had reached a tie at thirteen in the decisive fifth set. Itas Trentino had approached the match better, playing a solid first set in attack and being precise at the block and serve, and subsequently managed to recover after losing the second set in advantage and clearly the next period. The efforts of Lavia (top scorer with 16 points), Michieletto (15), and an extremely effective Flavio (15 with 88% in attack and one block) gave Trentino fans hope for a new qualification for the final. However, the chaotic conclusion of the match barred the path to the opportunity for an Adige derby with Verona in the decisive match the next day. Leading 12-10, Soli's team suffered a 2-5 run from the Marchigiani, dragged to qualification by two aces from Porya and a net error from Bartha, the only mistake in a match characterized by 13 points with 54% in attack, four blocks, and two aces.

Here is the scoreboard for the second semi-final of the 2025 Del Monte® Coppa Italia played tonight at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno.
