2025 CEV Cup, first leg of the quarterfinals smiles on Trentino Itas

The first part of February continues to bring satisfaction and important results to Trentino Itas. After valuable victories in Verona and against Piacenza in the first eight days of the month, this evening the European Champion team achieved success internationally as well, coming from behind to win 3-1 at the Chaumont Arena in the first leg of the 2025 CEV Cup quarterfinals.
This win marks a promising first step toward potential qualification to the semifinals, which will be secured in fifteen days in Trento by winning at least two more sets in the return match. In France, the yellow-blues confirmed that they are in good physical and technical form, showing resilience and battling hard in the first two sets, before gradually improving with increased attacking efficiency (struggling in the opening set, highly effective in the subsequent ones), solid blocking (with 12 successful blocks), and excellent contributions from both outside hitters (Michieletto and Lavia, who combined for 27 points) and middle blockers, where Flavio and Bartha dominated with their blocks (three from Flavio and five from Bartha) and quick attacks.
Chaumont, coached by former Trentino manager Silvano Prandi, posed significant challenges to the yellow-blues, especially at the start of the match, when they managed to turn a 16-13 lead into a 23-25 set win. However, they had to gradually give way to the visitors, struggling to read the opponent's game and making too many mistakes (two successful blocks and 13 net errors).

Below are the scores from the first leg of the 2025 CEV Cup quarter-finals, played tonight at the Sports Hall in Chaumont.
