SuperLega, three points against Cisterna in the recovery of the 12th round

The recovery of the twelfth round of the regular season of SuperLega Credem Banca 2024/25 brings three points to Itas Trentino and propels them to the top of the standings, alongside Perugia.
By defeating Cisterna Volley for the third time this season with the maximum margin (3-0) in a match originally scheduled for December 15 but played today at the ilT quotidiano Arena to allow the yellow-and-blues to participate in the 2024 Club World Championship, the European Champions have reached Sir Safety Susa Perugia at 51 points. This sets up a final sprint for the regular season title, with two more matches to go, culminating on Sunday, March 2 (the 22nd and final round).
Sbertoli and his teammates have regained the top spot after more than three months of chasing, delivering an excellent performance across all areas of the game. Following a strong showing in Monza, the team’s blocking (13 points, 4 of which from Michieletto), defense, and counterattack (53% during break points) propelled the hosts to a decisive victory in just 76 minutes. The outstanding performance from MVP Bartha (83% in the first set, with three blocks and as many aces), along with significant contributions from Michieletto (18 points, 50% efficiency, and an ace) and Lavia (13 points, 59% efficiency, and three blocks), made the difference in every set, securing the win well before the second half.
The ninth consecutive victory in the league not only puts Itas Trentino at the top but also secures at least second place, preventing any possible challenge from Civitanova. Even if Civitanova were to win all their remaining three matches (starting Thursday night in Padova) and reach 51 points, they would still be behind due to a lower number of wins.
