Cisterna Volley-Itas Trentino 1-3, the match report

The match report for Game 4: Itas Trentino confirmed the lineup seen on the field last Sunday for the third match of the series: Sbertoli as setter, Rychlicki as opposite, Lavia and Michieletto as spikers, Kozamernik and Flavio as middle blockers, and Laurenzano as libero. Cisterna Volley responded with Baranowicz as setter, Faure as opposite, Ramon and Bayram as outside hitters, Mazzone and Nedeljkovic as middle blockers, and Pace as libero. The locals had the better impact on the match, immediately taking the lead with Faure and Ramon (1-3 and 5-9), forcing Soli to interrupt the game; upon resuming, Trento tried to catch up (10-13 and then 12-14), taking advantage of some opponents' errors. Michieletto's ace deceived the yellow-blues (14-16), who were then pushed away by Bayram and Ramon's serves (including two winning serves for 15-22). The Trento coach threw Magalini into the mix instead of Lavia; the Venetian hammer put a couple of balls down at the net but failed to reverse the trend: the locals again closed the account with Nedeljkovic's serve at 17-25.
After the change of sides, Lavia regained his place among the starters, and Itas Trentino started decidedly better, working well on blocks and counterattacks, also exploiting Ramon's error at the net for the initial 7-3 lead. Cisterna struggled to maintain the pace, suffered from the good reading of the game by the yellow-blues, and made another mistake with Faure, offering a +5 lead (6-11). After Falasca's timeout, it was always Trento making the most noise with Rychlicki (14-7); the gap was wide, and the hosts struggled to keep up the pace (18-9) also because the Luxembourg-born opposite hitter made his presence felt at the block. Ramon's turn at serving managed to bring the hosts back into the game, who incredibly climbed back to 19-16; the yellow-blues did not disunite and managed to restart in the most difficult moment (23-19) with Lavia himself. The 1-1 tie in the set count came on 25-20 with an error at the net by Faure, who was still the protagonist of a good set.
The guests also start well the third set (6-4 and 11-5), pushed forward by Rychlicki (attack and three winning serves); Trentino’s opposite is unleashed and leads his team to the further stretch, always signed by his cues (14-7). Cisterna no longer responds, giving the side of the field to Trentino’s domination (21-11 and 25-14) with Kozamernik also prominently displayed.
The leadership of Trento continues further in the fourth set (immediately 6-1) with a very effective block; Falasca then throws Tarumi in Ramon’s stead and expends a time out. During the break, little by little, Cisterna returns to the game, taking advantage of the good impact of the same Japanese player, but above all the great scoring vein of Faure (14-14). Lavia sinks the shot once more (17-15), but the Pontinians with the block and with Faure himself find the first advantage of the set (17-18). We proceed point by point until the end, with Trento having to wait for the second match ball to win: Tarumi’s mistake on the 27-25 net, after the same yellow-blue player had cancelled a set ball for the opponents.
