Playoffs, on Sunday at ilT quotidiano Arena marks the start of the SuperLega Finals

The 2025 SuperLega Credem Banca Scudetto Finals series gets underway on Sunday, April 27 at the ilT quotidiano Arena in Trento. After defeating Cisterna 3–1 in the quarterfinals and sweeping Piacenza in the semifinals, Itas Trentino now prepares to face Cucine Lube Civitanova in a best-of-five series that will determine the Italian champion. Game 1 starts at 6:30 PM (CET) and will be broadcast live on RAI Sport, Radio Dolomiti, and via streaming on DAZN and VBTV.
LASTEST ABOUT ITAS TRENTINO After just one season, Trentino Volley returns to the Scudetto Finals and will benefit from home-court advantage in three of the potential five matches. The yellow-blue squad arrives at the finals after a 10-day break, during which they focused on improving both their physical condition and technical sharpness.
“We’re about to experience what I expect will be a very balanced Finals series, with both teams coming in highly motivated,” said head coach Fabio Soli during the pre-match press conference. “We’re excited to return to the court after this long wait, while Lube will be riding the momentum of their comeback victory in the semifinals against Perugia. When the whistle blows for Game 1, everything resets—it’ll be an intense battle, and we want to start on the right foot with the best possible approach. This season has taught us that Civitanova knows how to put us under pressure, so we need to be ready from the first point.”
On Sunday, coach Soli will have his full roster available and is expected to rely on the same starting lineup that played throughout the Piacenza series. For six players on Trentino’s roster, this will be their first-ever Scudetto Finals: setter Acquarone, outside hitters Bristot and Magalini, and middle blockers Bartha, Kozamernik, and Pellacani. The other eight players have already experienced at least one Scudetto Final: Rychlicki (2021 win, 2022), Gabi Garcia (2022 win, 2023), Flavio (2024 win), Laurenzano, Lavia, Michieletto, Pesaresi, and Sbertoli—all part of the 2023 championship team. This is also Fabio Soli’s first Scudetto Finals as head coach, his fourth final at the helm of Trentino after the Champions League, Supercoppa, and Club World Championship appearances in 2024.
TRENTINO VOLLEY IN THE SCUDETTO PLAYOFFS This marks Trentino Volley’s 22nd appearance in the SuperLega Playoffs and their 10th Scudetto Finals berth. So far, the team has played 28 Finals matches, with a balanced record of 14 wins and 14 losses. Across all Playoff rounds, Trentino has played 161 matches, winning 97 (including 31 away) and losing 64 (44 on the road). The player with the most postseason appearances in club history is Matey Kaziyski with 89, while current team leader in this phase is Alessandro Michieletto with 40 (five of those in Finals).
On Sunday, Trentino will aim for their 98th Playoff victory as they begin their bid for another title. The team previously claimed the Scudetto on May 7, 2008 (home vs. Piacenza), May 15, 2011 (Rome vs. Cuneo), May 12, 2013 (home vs. Piacenza), May 13, 2015 (Modena), and May 17, 2023 (home vs. Civitanova).
TRENTINO VOLLEY IN FINALS HISTORY Sunday will be the 45th final in Trentino Volley’s history and their 28th on a national level, including nine Italian Supercup Finals (2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2021, 2024) and nine Italian Cup Finals (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022, 2023). The club has won 21 out of 44 previous finals: five Scudetto titles, four Champions League titles, five Club World Championships, three Supercups, three Italian Cups, and one CEV Cup.
THE OPPONENTS Cucine Lube Civitanova reaches their 10th Scudetto Finals in 28 Playoff appearances, having already won seven titles. They also lifted the Italian Cup in Bologna this past January. Under coach Giampaolo Medei, this renewed and younger squad arrives in Trento full of confidence after rallying back in both the quarterfinals (from 0–1 to 3–1 vs. Milano) and semifinals (from 0–2 to 3–2 vs. Perugia).
Lube is known for their aggressive serve (68 aces so far in the Playoffs, including 17 in Thursday’s Game 5 in Umbria) and strong blocking, averaging over 2.42 points per set thanks to standouts like Chinenyeze, Bottolo, and Nikolov. Libero Fabio Balaso is recovering from a recent hand injury; his backup Bisotto has started the last five matches, though Balaso returned to the court during Games 4 and 5.
HEAD-TO-HEAD HISTORY With 103 official matches played, Cucine Lube is Trentino Volley’s most frequent opponent. Lube leads the all-time series 56–47. The teams have split four matches this season, with each side winning at home: Lube won 3–1 on December 1, Trento won 3–1 on February 22. On neutral ground, Trento prevailed 3–0 in Uberlândia (December 14), while Lube won 3–2 in Bologna (January 25).
This will be the fourth time the two clubs face each other in a Scudetto Final: Lube won in 2012 and 2017, Trentino in 2023. They also met in three Italian Cup Finals (2012, 2013, 2017) and three Supercup Finals (2009, 2012, 2013), with an even split of three wins each. Sunday's matchup will be their eighth Playoff encounter, and fifth in the last six seasons (including semifinals in 2019, 2021, 2022, and the 2023 Final).
