On Wednesday in Civitanova Marche, Game 4 of the 2025 Scudetto Playoff Final

Game 4 of the SuperLega Credem Banca 2025 Scudetto Playoff Final will take place on Wednesday, May 7, at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche. Itas Trentino will once again face Cucine Lube, leading the series 2-1 in the best-of-five format. The match is set to begin at 8:30 PM, with live coverage on RAI Sport, Radio Dolomiti, and streaming available on OTT platforms DAZN and VBTV.
HERE ITAS TRENTINO Regaining the lead after a dominant victory in Game 3, Sbertoli and his teammates are preparing for their final away match of the season. Their goal is to capitalize on the first of two opportunities to close out the series and secure the Scudetto away from home, something that has happened only twice before (Rome, May 15, 2011, and Modena, May 12, 2015).
“This series continues to bring great satisfaction to teams playing on their home court, where the approach to the game and the ability to handle challenges are proving decisive,” explained head coach Fabio Soli, who will be coaching his 100th match from the Trentino bench. “We will need a focused performance in every aspect of the game, without expecting perfection, while enduring our opponents’ surges during the match. Our goal is to approach the point-by-point battle with determination, knowing that in Civitanova Marche, we will undoubtedly face a different Cucine Lube than the one we encountered in Game 3”
The Trentino squad departed for Civitanova Marche this afternoon, following their final training session this morning at the ilT Quotidiano Arena. Game 4 will mark Trentino Volley’s 52nd official match of the season, the 29th on the road, where they have recorded 20 wins and 8 losses (the latest occurring just five days ago in the Marche region). For the club based on Via del Brennero, this match will be the 165th in their history in the Scudetto Playoffs (with 99 wins and 65 losses), and their 32nd final, where they boast 16 victories and 15 defeats.
TWO WINS AND TWO LOSSES IN PREVIOUS GAME 4 FINALS While Game 2 of the Finals remains an unbroken taboo (six matches, six losses), Game 4 has offered Trentino Volley a couple of pleasant memories. Before Wednesday’s match, the yellow-and-blue club had previously played four such encounters, three of them in Emilia: two at PalaBancasport, one at PalaPanini, and one in Civitanova Marche. In Piacenza, the team experienced both a victory and a loss. On May 13, 2009, the yellow-and-blue triumphed 3-0, pushing the championship decision to Game 5 at PalaTrento, where Copra Nordmeccanica ultimately won the title. On May 5, 2013, the home team claimed a 3-0 victory, bringing the challenge back to Trento, where the hosts later secured their third Italian championship in a gripping 3-2 tiebreaker match. In Modena, on May 12, 2015, Trentino Volley claimed a straight-set victory, clinching the club’s fourth championship title. Finally, in the Marche region, on May 12, 2023, with Itas Trentino leading 2-1 in the series, the team lost a tight tiebreaker to Lube, postponing their championship win until five days later, on May 17, 2023. Looking strictly at Game 4 Finals played so far, the record remains perfectly balanced: two wins and two losses.
THE OPPONENTS Following their loss in Game 3 on Sunday, Wednesday night's home match for Cucine Lube Civitanova is already a do-or-die situation. The Marche-based team has only one possible outcome, victory, if they hope to continue chasing the championship, which they last won in 2022 before surrendering the title to Trento. To achieve this and return to the ilT Quotidiano Arena for the decisive fifth game of the series, Giampaolo Medei’s squad will rely heavily on the support of their devoted fans, who have already sold out every seat at the Eurosuole Forum. This season, the red-and-white team has dominated at home, winning 20 out of 22 matches across the league, Coppa Italia, Challenge Cup, and Playoffs. Their only defeats at home came against Milan in Game 1 of the quarterfinals and Perugia in Game 2 of the semifinals.
HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD With 106 official matches already played, Cucine Lube is by far the team Trentino Volley has faced the most. The overall record favors the team from the Marche region with 57 wins to 49, but this season Trento has won four out of the seven encounters and, more broadly, has taken eleven of the last seventeen meetings. The yellow-blue club has won thirteen out of the forty-seven matches played on the opponent’s court; however, only four of those victories came at the Eurosuole Forum in Civitanova Marche, which has been the home of Cucine Lube since the latter part of the 2014/15 season. The two matches played at the Eurosuole Forum this season both went in favor of the home team: a 3-1 win on December 1st (sets of 25-23, 18-25, 25-22, 25-23), and a 3-0 win on May 1st.
THE SERIES Itas Trentino leads the best-of-five final series 2-1, thanks to a 3-0 win at the ilT Quotidiano Arena in Trento on April 27 (25-20, 25-23, 25-21), a 0-3 defeat in Civitanova on May 1 (21-25, 21-25, 22-25), and a 3-0 victory back in Trento on May 4 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18). Game 4 is set for Wednesday evening in the Marche region and will decide the championship only if the away team (Trentino) wins. If Cucine Lube wins, the title will be decided in Game 5, scheduled—if needed—for Sunday, May 11 at 6 PM in Trentino.
REFEREES The designated referees are Marco Zavater (from Rome) and Armando Simbari (from Milan), officiating their sixth SuperLega match together and their second this season after Piacenza vs. Perugia (1-3) on March 2. Zavater is officiating his 21st match in the 2024/25 men’s championship and has already refereed Trentino three times: a home 3-1 win over Verona (November 10), an away win in Cisterna di Latina (September 29), and a home win over Civitanova (February 22)—the only previous time he has overseen a Trento vs. Civitanova match. Simbari is making his 16th appearance this season and is officiating Trentino for the third time, having previously overseen their home loss to Perugia on October 27 and their 3-1 win over Cisterna on March 23. He has already officiated five Trento vs. Civitanova clashes, with three victories for Lube.
