Hurrikani is one of the most important sport clubs in Finland and represents the city of Loimaa with 13,000 inhabitants, situated in the south of the country, in the Varsinais-Suomi region. Thanks to its final third place in the national championship, this team is taking part in CEV Cup for the second consecutive year; in the previous season it was able to reach the round of sixteen but then it was eliminated by the Austrian team AICH/DOB. Previously, the team took part in the Challenge Cup for four consecutive seasons, but only in 2013 it was able to go farther than the first knock-off round. In order to improve its continental ranking, this summer Hurrikani significantly invested in the strengthening of its players: now it includes two internationally renowned brothers, Mikko and Matti Oivanen, opposite and middle blocker (who played in Piacenza during season 2009/10, trained by Lorenzetti), the Australian setter Peakok (ex Verona) and his compatriot, the outside hitter Smith. The team can count on a couple of players of the National volleyball team, as the captain Kouki and the middle blocker Koppanen. The coach is Lauri Rantanen, Assistant Coach until last year, who replaced the Italian Giolito (athletic trainer of Montichiari).
Tipical starting six: Peacock (s), Oivanen Mi. (op), Smith-Kouki (Mutka) (oh), Oivanen Ma.-Koppanen (Kutinlahti) (mb), Mantyla (l).
