2017 Del Monte® Supercoppa, Perugia wins semifinal: Diatec Trentino defeated in four sets

Del Monte® Supercoppa semifinal remains a bewitched goal for Diatec Trentino. As occurred last year in PalaPanini, the road of the team towards the first title of the season stopped in the first match; Sir Safety Conad won the second match of the day 3-1 in Eurosuole Forum and forced Lorenzetti and his team to play for the small final on Sunday (3pm against Modena).

As expected, Yellow blues struggled to play continuously at high levels due to the lack of a deep understanding between the players; a new and young team as they are with some limits,  offering though  some interesting performance.

One of the positive factors is certainly character: down 2-0 and 20-23 in the third set, Vettori and teammates made a comeback winning the set and kept on high levels in the next one. Their determination and will to sacrifice on every ball played wasn’t enough to resist the attacking charge of Perugia, who was very precise in the block fundamental (17 points scored) and in the serve, causing problems to the Trentino Volley defense. The great perfomance of Atanasijevic (25 points) and Russell were crucial for the outcome of the match. A positive debut for Eder (10 points with 62% and 2 blocks) and for Vettori, best scorer with 18 points and 2 aces, are the sunny sides of the coin for Trento.
