Simone Giannelli at home for an evening

Trento, 6th October 2016

Enthusiasm, a lot of spectators and a victory at international level that is always welcomed and that guarantees moral for the first seasonal away game of SuperLega (on Sunday in Sora). In the evening friendly game against Friedrichshafen in Bolzano, Trentino Volley conquered a new victory for 3-2, showing an occasionally very impressive game and at the same time received the embrace of the audience at PalaResia. The most convinced applause of the supporters from South Tyrol, as expected, was not for a good action of one of the two teams but for the most awaited player: Simone Giannelli was extraordinarily welcomed by his hometown, to whom he has devoted himself after the match to satisfy all the requests of his supporters asking him for a picture, a selfie, an autograph. Before the start of the match, there was also time for an official moment during which Comune di Bolzano and Sport Team Südtirol (the sport club in which Giannelli started playing volleyball) celebrated the silver medal conquered in Rio 2016. Then it was the time to play: Trentino Diatec played very well during the first and the third set (as Urnaut and Antonov controlled the match), but it faced some difficulties in the second, fourth and fifth. In fact, it gave its opponents too much space of action. In the end, the team from Trento was able to win the match, with 17 points of Tine (the best of Trentino Volley), 14 of the Italian-Russian (with 56% of attacks scored at the centre of the net) and 13 of Van de Voorde who certainly played well thanks to his blocks, his services (scoring 2 points in both of them) and his attacks (75%). Five sets which were very useful with a view to the tour de force that will characterize the next twenty days of Trentino Volley.
