The report about Minas Tenis Clube-Diatec Trentino 0-3. For this debut Angelo Lorenzetti chooses Giannelli as setter, Stokr as opposite, Lanza and Urnaut as hitters, Solé and Van de Voorde as middle blockers and Colaci as libero. The home team, Minas Tenis Clube, replies with Gelinski as setter, Bisset as opposite, Fuchs and Tiago in area 4, Petrus Silva and Flavio as middle blockers, Rogerio as libero. The beginning is for Diatec Trentino, with Van de Voorde’s service (who also scores an ace) that gives the yellow-blue team the lead (5-1, 7-2). Minias tries to close the gap also by takin advantage of an error of Urnaut (8-6). But then, the advantage increases thanks to Stokr and his super service (11-7). Lanza finds a great attack (14-9) and also Urnaut collects points in attack (17-12); the opponents don’t counterattack properly. When Stokr, helped by the net tape, scores his second ace for the 19-13, the set seems already won; but it doesn’t. the Brazilian team manages to close the gap with Bisset (20-18) who is also able to tie (23-23). At the end Urnaut (side-out in attack and single block against the rival opposite) gives his team the victory of the first set (25-23).
In the beginning, the second set is balanced (3-3), but a successful attack of Lanza from zone-4 changed the situation; this positive action by the captain is an insolated case for Trentino volley until the scoreboard registered 8-6: with his service, Stokr conquered two breaks (10-8 with a direct ace). Nery Pereira suspended the game but as the match started again, Trento showed precise side-out (14-10) and Urnaut played fierce counterattacks (16-11); Van de Voorde took advantage of his height blocking his opponents, especially Bisset (18-12); this time the end of the set caused Trentino Volley less worries as Minas made many errors than the previous set. The third set was similar to the second one; Diatec Trentino conquered an advantage immediately (5-3, 9-6), and thanks to Urnaut and his sharp service, this advantage grew more and more (12-8). Minas seemed to react and the numerous changes proposed by Nery Pereira got the team back on track : from 16-10 the team achieved 19-17. The team from Trento counterattacked feeling the danger (21-17), but it suffered until the end because the Brazilians annulled four match points before Trentino Volley scored the 25th point.
