MATCH REPORT. There was no surprise reading the starting six; Diatec Trentino choses Giannelli as setter, Stokr as opposite, Lanza and Urnaut in area 4, Solé and Van de Voorde as middle blockers, Colaci as libero. Zenit Kazan replies with Butko as setter, Mikhailov as opposite, Leon and Anderson as hitters, Ashchev and Volvich as middle blockers, Salparov as libero. The beginning is for Diatec Trentino (4-1) thanks to Urnaut who is particularly inspired; Kazan replies with Mikhailov and Anderson reaching the tie (7-7) and then taking the lead with Butko at the service. Lorenzetti is forced to call time out by 7-9 and when the match restarts, Trentino is able to tie (10-10) thanks to two blocks (by Solé and Stokr) against Nikhailov and Leon. Kazan gets back to collect points with the service (13-15) and takes advantage of two attack errors by the Yellow-blue team (15-19). Leon is the key player in the final part of the set; Zenit accelerates (17-22) and wins the first set smoothly: 18-25.
In the second set Diatec Trentino tries to restart recovering form a disadvantage (2-4). Then it takes the lead by 10-9 thanks to a regular side-out and to a Colaci who often neutralizes Leon’s attacks. In the central part of the set, Kazan tries to get away with Mikhailov (17-15); but thanks to Urnaut Trento is able to tie (20-20). The decisive moment is for the Russian opposite: break point by 22-23 and side-out for the 23-25.
In the third set Lorenzetti confirms Nelli and Daniele Mazzone, who already played in the final of the previous set in place of Stokr and Van de Voorde. Diatec Trentino is able to keep the opponent team’s pace till 9-9. Then Kazan accelerates with Anderson (9-11) and with Volvich (12-15). Mikhailov is the key player of this third partial (13-18); Kazan doesn’t stop and rapidly wins: 18-25.
