Volley Asse- LENNIK (Belgium)
(the Belgian village of about 9,000 inhabitants in Flanders)
Team runner of Belgium after losing in four games (1-3) the championship final of last season with Roeselare. The qualification to the last act of the playoffs and winning the National Cup (fourth ever thanks to the 3-0 over Anversa in the final), however, have guaranteed the current and second qualifying CEV Champions League in its history in which it achieved the best result ever: in the only previous experience in the Champions League (2013 edition) the Lennik had in fact classified in the last place of Pool B of the main phase, winning only one game and then being directly eliminated.
In the season 2014/15, like Trentino Volley (which has no previous official), it instead played the CEV Cup, stopping only in the semifinals at the hands of Dinamo Moscow that then won the trophy. It is exactly this the best result in the international arena, for a club that before 2015 was recovering from a long period without victories: the only two national titles date back to 1987 and 1988 while the three cups of Belgium have been conquered in 1985 , 1992 and 1993.
The strengths of the sextet, entrusted the bench to Johan Devoghel, are the opposite Dutch Overbeeke, the very expert setter Depestele (returned home last summer after the experience at Beauvais), the orange spiker Andringa and the Spanish middle-blocker Sugranes (already seen in PalaTrento with the jersey of Teruel). Currently in Ethias League, the National Championship, is still undefeated and in first place with two points ahead of Roeselare (from which, however, was eliminated in the Belgian Cup) and five on over Maaseik.
