Trento, January 31st 2018

2018 CEV Champions League comes again on the field this week for the fourth turn of the Main Phase, the first one of the return round. On Thursday February 1st Trentino Diatec will start in Turkey its return phase of Pool E at Arkas Izmir’s home.

The start of the match is scheduled for 5 p.m. (Italian time) with live broadcast on Fox Sports and Radio Dolomiti and live streaming video and audio on the site www.laola1.tv.

Here Diatec Trentino After the experience in Puglia with the recover match of SuperLega and the Final Four of Coppa Italia, there will be another long away trip for the yellow-blues to try to turn the page on the bad defeat obtained versus Perugia, which will be queerly played again on Sunday, right after the return from Izmir for the twentieth day of regular season of SuperLega.

Lanza and his teammates need a victory to boost themselves but especially to keep intact their hopes of ending at the first place of their round, before the two home matches versus Zaksa and Maaseik.

It will be an important and hard match at the same because we will face such as a good opponent as Arkas who absolutely needs to win to keep aiming to the qualification – marked coach Angelo Lorenzetti - . We will face Arkas without much technical work but we knew that this period would have been very hard and without training possibilities. We will face the match being confident of giving everything on the field and of exploiting the match to improve some aspects that recently haven’t work well. Playing many matches could be the best way to face this hard period in this moment”.

The team from Trentino arrived in Turkey already on Tuesday night and today will do a training session of about ninety minutes in the stadium l’Atatürk Sports Hall to better know such a small building. The team will be useful also to clarify all Lorenzett’s doubts about the starting six. It could be a nice chance for Nicholas Hoag, who was injured in the going match due to a shoulder problem, to face for the first time his father Gleen, who is the coach of the Turkish team, as an opponent.

Fourth away match in Turkey in the history of Trentino Volley The one which started on Tuesday morning and will end in the late afternoon of Friday (the arrive in Trento is scheduled around 3 p.m. of February 2nd) is the fourth overall away match in Turkey of Trentino Volley (the last one was on March 1st 2017 in Istanbul for the semi-finals of CEV Cup versus Fenerbahce), the second one in Izmir where Trentino Volley already played on November 6th 2013 (3-0 victory in the match of the first phase of CEV Champions League). The first match in Turkey is instead dated back to December 15th 2004, when the then Itas Diatec Trentino played in Ankara the return match of the round of sixteen of Coppa CEV and was then eliminated from the competition after a 1-3 defeat. The match will be the 141st international match of the yellow-blue history.
The Opponents The one versus Trentino Diatec will be one of the last chances for Arkas Izmir to try to recover from a very hard situation in CEV Champions League. The white-blue team has in fact obtained only defeats in the first three matches and one single point, ruining its run to the first place, but it needs a victory to remain at least at the third place, which will allow them to pass the turn if they’ll have a better score than three other teams with the same ranking position in the Main Phase. After the defeat obtained at PalaTrento on January 18th, the team of Glenn Hoag has immediately restarted its run in Efer Ligi, the Turkish championship, surprisingly winning at home of Ziraat Ankara, which is at the first place in ranking, winning 3-0 versus Bursa and losing then for 3-2 last weekend in Yuntas.

The results allowed Arkas to remain at the third place in ranking and to further show the skills of the opposite Sanchez Bozhulev (mvp in the going match as well), who is scoring an overall media of 22 points every match. The roster of Arkas Izmir: 1. Christian Fromm (sp), 2. Muzaffer Yonet (st), 3. Nikola Jovovic (st), 5. Mert Matic (mb), 7. Cagatay Durmaz (mb), 8. Gokhan Gokgoz (sp), 9.
