The great success that the team obtained on Sunday night in PalaTrento against Bunge Ravenna made Diatec Trentino confirm the fourth position in the ranking of SuperLega UnipolSai 2017/2018. The team is facing the big match of January 14th against the Champions of Italy, Cucine Lube, with the best possible credentials. The current position in the ranking could however be temporary, since Verona could surpass the yellow-blues with the still to be played match against Latina. But the confirmation of the great performance of Diatec Trentino, trained by the coach Angelo Lorenzetti, is the ninth victory in a row of the team in SuperLega UnipolSai 2017/2018. Lanza and his team haven't been losing a match of regular season since November 15th (0-3 in Perugia); after that four matches won at the tie break (against Latina, Modena, Vivo Valentia and Milano), three matches won 3-1 (against Sora, Monza and Ravenna) and two matches won 3-0 (against Piacenza and Ravenna). It is the best figure since the season 2014/2015, in which Diatec Trentino won its fourth Scudetto. On that occasion Diatec Trentino won 10 matches in a row, result that can now only be obtained by winning against Civitanova next Sunday. This week Trento, indeed, is skipping the match of the seventeenth round planned for Wednesday January 10th; the unavailability for that date of the PalaFlorio di Bari, where the match BCC Castellana-Diatec Trentino would have take place, will in fact force the yellow-blues to wait and play the match on January 24th, three days after the Del Monte Coppa Italia 2018 semi-final (scheduled right in the capital of Puglia during the following weekend). Nine victories in a row also represent the best of the rows of Angelo Lorenzetti since he sits on the bench of Trentino Volley. The society has been able to do better on only six occasions in the previous seasons; from Tuesday morning the players will return to train at PalaTrento with the aim of trying to do better and collect other useful points to continue his fast march (23 points in the last nine matches).
The best winning stripes in the regular season of the Italian championship of Trentino Volley:
1. 21 victories: 2010/11 season, between the first regular day and the 8th day of return;
2. 13 victories: season 2011/12, between the 1st and the 13th day of return;
3. 12 victories: season 2007 // 08, between the 13th regular day and the 10th day of return, and the 2012/13 season, between the 2nd regular day and the 2nd day of return;
4. 11 victories: season 2003/04, between the fourth regular day and the first day of return;
5. 10 victories: 2014/15 season, between the 5th regular day of the match and the 2nd day of return;
6. 9 victories: 2017/18 season, between the 8th regular day of the match and the 3rd day of return.
