Trento, February 15th 2017
Diatec Trentino turns over a new leaf after the bad defeat of Sunday in Civitanova and conquers, even with some difficulties, the qualification to the quarterfinals of CEV Cup 2017. The yellow-blue team will play versus Piacenza, in a Italian derby.
What started brilliantly in Finland, two weeks ago with a 3-0 in the away match, was concluded today in a more complicated match won 3-1 against VaLePa.
The qualification was uncertain only in the first half of the match, when Sastamala tried to surprise the home team putting all their efforts on the court; Trentino Diatec wavered and risked to lose also the second set, before retaking the lead and dominating the rest of the match. Crucial were the entrances on the court of Lanza (started from the bench but later became fundamental with 11 points) and Nelli, decisive with his serves. With the performance of Solé (best scorer with 16 points, 4 of which were blocks), Lorenzetti and the team overturned the trend and the initial disadvantage, being able to win the fourth set and winning the match, for the 14th time in the season in PalaTrento.
In the fourth round of the international tournament there will be no need to travel abroad: to access the semifinals Trentino Diatec will have to win against Lpr Piacenza, which defeated Serbian Novi Sad.
