Trento, January 18th 2017
After 672 days this evening PalaTrento could again celebrate a home victory of Trentino Diatec in CEV Champions League. The chance was given by the seasonal European debut at home of Angelo Lorenzetti’s team, which was very good versus the Turks of Arkas Izmir in only three sets in the match of the third turn of Pool E. This victory allows the yellow-blues to remain just after Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, which is at the first place in the round, and to immediately start again their rush after the defeat versus Civitanova on Sunday and, in the tournament, after the previous defeat of half December in Poland. The hosting team has tonight relied on Vettori to confirm its positive tradition with the Turks (always defeated in three sets in four direct matches): the trust of Lorenzetti has definitely boosted the Italian opposite, best scorer of the match, in which he did everything very fine: attack phase (78% on 18 strikes), block phase (3 blocks) and service (2 aces). Together with him, captain Lanza and Kovacevic were really good around the net (both with double digits) and set very well by a great Giannelli, active in the block phase as well. Arkas fought until the end in the first two sets, relying especially on the opposite Sanchez Bozhulev, but then it gave up very early in the third one. The family derby didn’t instead take place for Hoag family because of a shoulder injury that avoided Nicholas from entering the field and facing for the fist time his father Glenn as an opponent. The date will be postponed to February 1st in Turkey.
