Trento, 3rd July 2017
Every year, for more than a decade now, Trentino Volley has been welcoming a young player from the Young team in the First team. This tradition will continue in 2017/2018, as spiker Oreste Cavuto, after playing the last seasons for Potenza Picena and Bergamo, returns to Diatec Trentino to join the team in SuperLega.
Cavuto, wing spiker from Abruzzo, returns to Trento, where he arrived back in 2012 after being selected by Trentino Volley staff during Trofeo delle Regioni; during the last two years he stood out due to his attack skills, scoring 845 points in Serie A2. Thanks to his performance, in 2016 he was awarded with the premio Badiali award for the best Under 23 player. In his personal palmares we find five junior national titles, all with Trentino Volley and the 2015 Junior League MVP award.
In the first team he will try to follow into the footsteps of Giannelli, Tiziano Mazzone (he will go and play for Ravenna and leave jersey number five available) and Filippo Lanza.
“ Every time a player from the Junior team joins the Top team we all feel a unique pride - explained President Diego Mosna -. Our junior teams are constantly training top level athletes and many of them go play on loan at other teams in SuperLega and Serie A2, which means their efforts are incredibly effective. Cavuto is without doubt one of the most promising players of the last few years, with many junior finals and titles won, and I hope he can continue his career contributing more and more to our desire of victories. Coach Lorenzetti had the chance to meet him and know him better during post season trainings, and he personally pushed for his return. It’s also a great pleasure that during this week Cavuto is working at the BIG Camp in Monte Bondone as a volleyball instructor: this is a clear demonstration of how strong the feeling of belonging to our team is".
“My goal was returning to Trento, my dream: I am happy to be here, but it’s only a new beginning - stated Oreste Cavuto-. I feel ready and excited to play for Trentino, even after two great and successful years in Potenza Picena and Bergamo; I had the chance to grow and gain experience. I will work more and more to improve; with coach Lorenzetti I started a new path in my career, a long one. He asked me to help the team improve, without fear and bravely. I am happy to meet again with Simone Giannelli, who was a former teammate; I’m sure we will have fun on the court, just like we used to do when we were younger".
