During his second season with Trentino Volley jersey Simon Van de Voorde scored 320 points

Against his will, he’s been the last to touch a ball and the first to leave Trento to play with the national team. The day after match 3 of Finale Play Off, which ended with his service error, Simon Van de Voorde packed his things and left for Belgium. The qualifications to the World Championship 2018 are nearing and for this reason the yellow-blue middle blocker had to join his National team, which in Ljubljana, between 24th and 26th May, will play the second phase of pool C against Slovenia, Georgia and Portugal.
Before leaving for his home country Simon told to Trentino Volley TV his second season with the yellow-blue kit on, saving for the supporters (who he will not be able to say hello to on Wednesday evening in Piazza Pasi) a particular thought. “Thanks to everyone for the fantastic feelings we lived together, I hope to see you very soon – said the middle-blocker from Leuven - . We lived a great year together, in which only the victory of a trophy missed to make it perfect. We can’t say that we’re completely satisfied about our season because of the many second places we achieved but the most important thing is that we have given everything. My second experience in Trento has been more positive than the first one because I’ve physically felt better and so I could show to the public who I am. Match 5 of Play Off semi-finals won 3-0 versus Perugia at PalaTrento is my best memory for sure, because in such an important and decisive match we managed to play as best we could and to give our fans another final”.
“I will start training with the national team already on Wednesday – said Simon - ; it won’t be easy to immediately resume the activity because I objectively feel stressed from the high number of matches we’ve played in the last months, but I think that Tine Urnaut too will feel the same. We’ve been put in the same qualification round, we will be opponents but we will start from the same point, at least from a physical point of view…”.
