Trentino Diatec is nearing the semi-finals of 2017 CEV Cup, after winning the going match of the Italian derby of the quarter-finals. At PalaBanca, where the Yellow-blues had their first seasonal defeat in the regular season of SuperLega, the team of Lorenzetti has shown every progress made in this last period, being able to win 3-0 against Lpr Piacenza.
In order to get the qualification to the semi-finals of the European competition, Lanza and his team-mates need to win at least two sets in the return match scheduled in two weeks. The victory, which approached the third continental semi-final in a row in the last three seasons, has seen a special performance of Stokr (best scorer with 14 points and 72% at net) and of Urnaut (11 with 64%), with a defence block-system that stopped Hernandez (only 8 points) and Clevenot. The pressure at service and in reception (0 aces for Lpr) have made it easier to win the match, which has been really balanced only in the last part of the second set, when Piacenza has shown its best effort. The match number 700 in the history of Trentino Volley has come to a positive end as it happened in the 600° match, i.e. a victory for 3-0 at PalaBanca.
