The tenth seasonal episode of “Trentino Volley in FM dj per un giorno”, the broadcast that Radio Dolomiti dedicates every week to Trentino Volley, allowed the listeners to better know Matteo Chiappa.
The libero grown in the yellow-blue youth team made his debut in the starting six in SuperLega right on last Sunday evening versus Ravenna, demonstrating that he can give an important contribution to the team. “I found out that I would have started in the starting six, also for the reception phase, only at the last moment, since De Pandis tried anyway to warm up – admitted Chiappa, already used to enter the field for the break point phase this season - ; I can’t be happy to play in exchange of an injured teammate but this still led us to a victory and the result paid me off for how I work every day in the gym. I never thought, only few months ago, to being able to sustain the level of SuperLega. The performance offered last Sunday surprised me as well, because I started playing in this role only few years ago: up until three years ago I was used to play as a spiker; a shoulder injury gave me a chance in Serie B1 in Bolzano and since then I kept playing as a libero. I honestly miss to attack but now I try to find satisfaction with another playstyle. A defence action, for example, particularly satisfies me better than a perfect reception”.
“We fortunately have at our disposal a whole week of training to prepare ourselves for the match versus Civitanova of Sunday – continued Chiappa - . We’re already working in the gym from Tuesday from a physical and technical point of view, whereas in the next days we will start also with the tactical studies. Lube will be an extremely hard opponent, because it can count on very strong players: first of all Tsvetan Sokolov, an athlete who I consider one of the best opposites in the world”.
