The last round of Pool E of 2018 CEV Volleyball Champions League will be played tomorrow evening, Wednesday February 28th. The Main Phase of the most important continental festival for clubs will end for Trentino Diatec at PalaTrento, where the Belgians of Noliko Maaseik will arrive for the match valid for the sixth day. Starting whistle scheduled for 8.30 pm; live Radio Dolomiti and live streaming on the website www.laola1.tv.
HERE TRENTINO DIATEC After conquering the qualification to the elimination phase of the CEV Champions League with a turn in advance for the eighth time in its history (out of eight participations) , the yellow-blue team returns to the field for the third time in a week at PalaTrento with the need to win the match with any score to finish at least in second place the pool, resisting the attempt to the attempt to overtake of the opponents on Wednesday. The placement would still be worth much, because it would guarantee a “softer" combination in the Playoffs 12 (the draw will be on Friday March 2nd in Luxembourg).
"This event means a sort of final to us, because it assigns the second place of the Pool E - confirms the coach Angelo Lorenzetti -. Beyond the value of the position in the standings, which is important, the match counts so much to set an intermediate milestone in our path in the Champions League. I also believe it to be a reliable test for the SuperLega match, which we will play on Sunday in Monza; compared to the first match played in Belgium the Noliko Maaseik has grown a lot, especially in the side-out phase ".
For the third international event of 2018 the Trentino Diatec will show the entire team and will finish the preparation between the trainings of this evening and Wednesday morning at PalaTrento.
Fiftieth international match at PalaTrento In this circumstance the PalaTrento will cross a prestigious line; Trentino Diatec-Noliko Maaseik will in fact be the fiftieth international game played by Trentino Volley in the facility of via Fersina. 35 are the matches in the Champions League (30 victories, 4 losses), 3 in the Top Teams Cup (2 victories, 1 loss) and 12 in the CEV Cup (10 victories, 2 losses). It will be then the 143th international match of the Club of via Trener’s history (balance of 117 victories and 25 losses), the 80th in the Champions League, in which it will go in search of the 65th success.
The opponents Noliko Maaseik is coming in search of the big shot never found in three precedents: violating the PalaTrento would in fact allow the main volleyball association of Belgium (his palmares counts on 14 leagues, 14 cups and 14 national supercups and is unequaled in his homeland) to qualify with certainty at the Playoffs 12 of the tournament, a result that hasn’t been achieved for more than four seasons, while otherwise should hope to be among the two best third-ranked of the five groups, to access the final board. The team entrusted to Joel Banks also wants the qualification to redeem the recent loss in the Final of the Belgian Cup, surrendered for 1-3 in favour of the historic opponents of Roeselare after Noliko had won the regular season of the national championship with three points of advantage right on the same Knack. In the previous weekend they overcame Guibertin for 3-1 at home on the second day of the second phase, led by the opposite Cox (27 points) and the spiker Bruno (17). The Noliko Maaseik team: 1. Jolan Cox (o), 2. Sebastien Dumont (l), 3. Michiel Ahyi (s), 4. Timo Tammemaa (c), 5. Jelte Maan (s), 6. Just Dronkers (l), 9. Jay Michael Blankenau (p), 10. Nicolas Bruno (s), 11. Kamil Rychlicki (s), 12. Stef Van Heyste (p), 13. Sebastian Gevert (o), 16. Berre Peters (s), 17. Dane Mijatovic (c), 18. Nicholas Sighinolfi (c). Coach Joel Banks.
The situation of Pool E Wednesday closes the Pool E with the last two matches scheduled; the situation is still to be defined with regard to the first three positions, with Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle who has however the opportunity, winning with any score the match with Arkas Izmir (mathematically the last team and then eliminated ), to block the first place, currently having an extra victory (4 versus 3) of Trento and Maaseik. The direct match between Diatec and the Belgians will probably award the second place to the team the winning team.
