CHAUMONT Vb 52 Haute Marne (France)

(town in the north-east of France, 24.000 inhabitants, capital city of the Haute-Marne department)

It was founded in 1963, but the society gained notoriety at a national level starting from the season 2011/2012, when it won the Play-Offs and gained the possibility to participate to the most important championship of the country. It is participating in the CEV Champions League for the first time, thanks to the fact that it won the Pennant 2017 (3-0 against the final match against Toulouse), and it also won the SuperCup right after that. They are still the only successes of the red-white Club, that almost gained a title at an European level in the season 2916/2017, when they almost won the Challenge Cup (in which they participated three times), but finally lost against Novy Urengoy. On Saturday March 10th Chaumont is playing the France Cup 2018's final in Paris against Tourcoing. The great protagonist of this ascent of the Club toward the top of the French volley was the coach Silvano Prandi, who also trained Trento from 2003 to 2005. The Professor met again the setter Javier Gonzalez in Chaumont, with whom he shared his experience in Cuneo. He can also count on the opposite hitter of the French national team Boyer, who is becoming very well known after winning the World League 2017 in Brasil, and on the very talented Canadian middle blocker Jansen Vandoorn; an important role inside the team is also played by the young Louati and the Serbian spiker Mijailovic (former Partizan Belgrado).
