Play Off, Perugia wins game 5 of semi-finals. Diatec Trentino ends its season head-on

The long race of Diatec Trentino in 2017/18 season ends on the verge of the qualification to the Final Play Off Scudetto UnipolSai. Lorenzetti’s team didn’t manage to conquer PalaEvangelisti in game 5 of semi-finals indeed Sir Safety Conad Perugia won putting an end to the five matches going up to 3-2 and gaining the qualification to the match against Civitanova.
In any case, the yellow-blues ended their race among the applause of the spectators because, as it happened during the previous four matches between the two teams, Perugia fought the rivals tooth and nail until the end and this proves that Diatec Trentino has continued to make terrific progress. After the first difficult set, Lorenzetti’s team showed its usual obstinacy getting back in the game and contending their opponents the victory of the next sets with all their determination and tenacity. Nevertheless, it wasn’t enough since Perugia, supported by its public, was able to enlarge the gap during the second set (5-10) going up to 25-20 and then to hinder the last attempt of the yellow-blues in the third set in which Lanza and his teammates bit the bullet before giving up at the 28-30. Giannelli (3 blocks and one ace) and Kovacevic (best scorer of Trento with 9 points and 53% in the net area) were the last ones to give up after fighting in a difficult match that, nonetheless, thanks to a number of actions like Lanza and Kazamerniks’ services, gave us all hope that we could reach the fourth set.
The eighteenth season of Trentino Volley ends after 48 matches which allowed the yellow-blues to show their strength and determination, achieving the semi-finals of Play Off, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa and the Playoffs 6 of Champions League.
