The adavnced 9th round of SuperLega on Saturday: guide to Kioene-Itas Trentino

The advanced ninth round of the Superlega Credem Banca regular season is set for Saturday 24th November at Kioene Arena in Padua. On this occasion, Itas Trentino will face Kioene Padova for the last time before the World Club Cup 2018. HERE ITAS TRENTINO After a splendid beginning of regular season (six victories during the first six matches), the Angelo Lorenzetti’s team is looking for a new victory in Veneto. The match has been brought forward to Saturday in order to allow Itas Trentino to leave for Rzeszow (Poland) that night, where they will play against Iran on Monday (first round of round B). The trainer of Itas Trentino consider this appointment as the opportunity to end in the best possible way the first part of the championship, but also to verify the conditions of the players before the World Cup.
“We are having a busy week because we have a lot of matches and transfers, and we know that we can’t count only on our energies to achieve a positive result – he admitted - . We will do our best because Padova is a team that in front of its audience changes. Thanks to the motivation of Kioene Arena, Padova plays even better during the break point phase, showing an aggressive attitude. I ask to my players to commit fully to this match because it will be extremely delicate”.
Trentino Volley will reach Padua on the evening of Saturday by bus, after a training at BLM Group Arena in the afternoon. For the fifth away game of regular season, the staff can count on the whole roster. The match of Saturday will be the 775th official match in the history of the Via Trener Club. A particular appointment for Lorenzetti (who won the first season as trainer between 2000 and 2001 in Veneto) and Nelli, who played with Padua the last season.
THE OPPONENT Except for the first round (defeat against Civitanova), the black and white team has always done its duties only in front of its audience getting three victories in four set, with Castellana Grotte, Monza and Siena. After the defeat of last Saturday in Vibo Valentia, the team from Veneto shows up determined at Kioene Arena. In the sextet trained by Valerio Baldovin stands out the Puerto Rican opposite Torres (best scorer with 118 points in eight matches), came back in the Italian championship in October after an experience in Poland, and the Italian spiker Randazzo, one of the best spiker in Italy. Amongst other, the most familiar faces are the ones of the setter Travica, the French spiker Louati and the blocker Polo, who grow up with Trentino Volley at the side of Giannelli, Cavuto, De Angelis and Codarin.
PRECEDENTS Trentino Volley and Pallavolo Padova have a long series of official matches behind them, started in 2000 and stopped for short periods between 2009 and 2011, 2012 and 2013. Among these twenty-eight official matches, Trentino Volley won twenty-four times. The last victory of Padova dates back to 13th February 2005. In the others thirteen precedents played in Padua, the black and white team won only two more times, always during the tie break: 16th February 2003 and 1st February 2004. The last match in Veneto dates back to 22nd October 2017: 3-1 with 13 points by Vettori.
REFEREES The meeting will be directed by Gianluca Cappello (from Sortino - Siracusa, in Serie A since 2004) and Massimo Florian (from Treviso, in Serie A since 2007). The last encouter with Trentino Volley for Cappello was on January 24 (victory in Bari against Castellana Grotte), while Florian has referred the match Trento-Latina 3-0 on 7 November. Cappello also directed the last match between Padova and Trentino Volley in Veneto will (October 22, 2017).

Inside the magazine “Campioni di Sport”, starting from 5:55pm, the audience will listen to the connections with Padova.
