Vero Volley Monza-Itas Trentino 2-3, the match report

Commentary of the match. In front of more than 4000 spectators, Itas Trentino chose the following lineup: Giannelli as setter, Vettori as opposite, Kovacevic and Russell as spikers, Lisinac and Candellaro as middle-blockers, Grebennikov as libero.
Instead, Vero Volley chose Orduna as setter, Ghafour as opposite, Dzavoronok and Plotnytskyi as spikers, Beretta and Yosifov as middle-blockers, Botto as libero (Rizzo out because of a physical problem).
Itas Trentino starts playing well (7-5) but Ghafour recovers and ties (7-7); then the two teams fight point-to-point and the Giannelli’s ace let Trento to be in the lead (12-11), immediately stopped by Plotnytskyi (12-13).
The final rush of the first set starts with a double mistake in attack of Trentino Volley (Kovacevic and Vettori) and it let Verona to score 2 points (17-19, time out Lorenzetti). Trento ties 20-20 but then they suffer the ace of Plotnytskyi (20-22) and the block of Dzavoronok (21-24). He also closes the set 22-25.
The two consecutive blocks of Lisinac (6-5) at the beginning of the set force Soli to ask for a timeout at 8-5. After the timeout Plotnytskyi’s performance is dangerous for Trento (10-9) and then a mistake of Vettori ties the points (11-11). Trentino Volley, thanks to Russell, scores 3 points 14-11, but Monza doesn’t give up and with Orduna reaches 17-16 (-1). The Lorenzetti’s team has more resources: thanks to Kovacevic and Russell, the team reaches the 21-17 and then they close the set 25-20.
At the beginning of the third set the Vero Volley reacts (4-7) taking advantage of some mistakes of Itas Trentno in the net area. The strokes of Giannelli score 10-11 but then 2 aces of Plotnytskyi (10-14) bring the team ahead 12-18 also thanks to Ghafour’s actions.
Lorenzetti choses Nelli and Van Garderen to change the situation; Trento recovers until -3 (18-21) also thanks to the defence of Jenia Grebennikov but Ghafour closes the third set (21-25).
Monza opens the fourth set with some advantage points (5-8); on the court we find Nelli (replacing Vettori) and Van Garderen (replacing Russell).
Monza tries to go ahead (6-12) but then they suffer some breaks (10-14), and the Lorenzetti’s team starts to believe in the set (14-16) and ties 18-18 thanks to a great block of Kovacevic.
Monza, with Plotnytskyi, scores 19-22 but Trento recovers 22-24 and then 24-24. With the ninth set ball, Itas Trentino closes the set after a Plotnytskyi’s mistake in the net area.
Tiebreak starts with Kovacevic (5-3) and Lisinac (block and ace for 9-5). Itas Trentino wants to win the match and closes the fifth set 15-8.
