Ale Michieletto made his SuperLega debut vs Ravenna (just like Giannelli six years ago)

The seasonal debut of Itas Trentino in the 2019/20 Credem Banca SuperLega, last Sunday evening in Ravenna, also coincided with the debut in the top Italian volleyball league of Alessandro Michieletto. The young left-handed spiker, born in 2001, has stepped for the first time into the court of the most beautiful league in the world during the first and third set, when Lorenzetti rushed him into the fray to reinforce the team's three-men reception line.
The son of Team Manager Riccardo (who played more than three hundred matches in Serie A) came onto the court twice during the match in Pala De Andrè and his debut sealed an unforgettable weekend, also characterized by the convincing win gained on Saturday night in Prata di Pordenone from UniTrento Volley in the season opening match of the white round of Serie A3. Actually, Alessandro, fresh from winning the U-19 World Cup, didn't make his first-ever team debut in Emilia-Romagna against Ravenna, but already in the last season, he had collected two appearances in the 2019 CEV Cup, scoring the final point of the home match against the Swiss team of Amriswil (quarter-finals).
Six years before (on October 27, 2013), it was always the Pala De Andrè in Ravenna to host the first ever Serie A1 debut of another player of the Youth Sector, Simone Giannelli, current captain and icon of Trentino Volley.
Only time will tell whether last Sunday's match was actually another "Romagna" date to remember for the team's history, but the previous one linked to the setter from Alto Adige and the unquestionable technical and physical skills of Michieletto certainly augur well.
