Itas Trentino is back, but just for a few hours

Itas Trentino came back from Istanbul later this afternoon, after achieving an important victory for their path in CEV Champions League this season. The 3-1 victory obtained in Istanbul on the field of Fenerbahce, which is out of the competition of Pool A as a result of this defeat, allowed Itas to strengthen even more its second position with three victories and eight points. This result makes the team one of the three best second in ranking of the five pools and gives access to the quarter-finals, after the pool stage. But to keep this position it will be necessary to achieve as many victories as possible in the last two matches, one on 13 February in Trento against Civitanova and one on 19 February in Ceske Budejovice, Czech Republic.
“It hasn’t been easy to win, especially after the first set – explained the Serbian middle blocker Srecko Lisinac, who scored 20 points in Istanbul, with four blocks and one ace -. We have been able to respond well and get back on the field with the right spirit to turn the situation in our favour. To be honest, the second and third set have been very complicated as well, but working well with blocks and in defence, managing their attacks better, we have been able to get a few more break points, which let us win both sets. We are happy because this three-point success is what we wanted in order to keep hoping in the quarter-finals. About the many points I scored, I’ve attacked a lot because we’ve had a high percentage in receive; behind a great result there is always the whole team, never a single player”.
The team will get back to work on Saturday afternoon at the BLM Group Arena; after a weight and technic session the players will pick their suitcases up again for another away match. On Sunday, 2 February at 18:00 Itas Trentino will face Gas Sales at the PalaBanca in Piacenza for the eighteenth day of regular season Superlega Credem Banca: it is the fourth away match in a row between championship, Coppa Italia and Champions League.
